The American Heart Association statement received no commercial funding, indicating an unbiased scientific assessment representing the organization's official position. Individual patient responses vary; some patients report cognitive side effects that require case-by-case management, despite lack of population-level evidence. Additional long-term studies are needed, particularly regarding non-statin cholesterol-lowering agents like PCSK9 inhibitors in specific patient populations.
