有隻鹿為了躲避獵人的追殺，跑進了葡萄樹叢。茂盛的葡萄藤遮蔽了獵人的目光，讓牠免受殺害。等到獵人走遠之後，牠開始吃起葡萄的嫩芽來。 不料，此時獵人突然折返，聽見葡萄樹傳來窸窸窣窣的聲音，心知鹿躲在其中，於是一箭射進樹叢將牠射成了重傷。 鹿臨死前才懊悔地說：「葡萄樹救了我，我實在不應該傷害它呀！」
