EP56: I Called My Mom Because the Oscars Reminded Me of My Red Carpet Horror Stories
from Hold On, I'm Calling My Mom · host Paul & Barb Roysdon
This week is Oscars weekend, so naturally I called my mom to talk about the difference between the glamorous moments everyone sees on the red carpet and the chaos that actually happens behind the scenes. We relive some of my red carpet horror stories over the years, including the time an Emmy winner asked me for $10 for someone "special" in his life. Somehow the conversation turns into beauty hacks for surviving the heat on the red carpet, which leads my mom to confess that when I was younger she tried using her pads as armpit inserts for me. Let's just say it didn't quite work out and one ended up lost on a dance floor. We also talk about the awkward reality of working with someone who unfollowed you on social media but still pretends like everything is perfectly normal in person. Personally, I can't get down like that. And finally we answer a listener question that puts my mom in the hot seat about what it's really like when I call her and unload everything going on in my life. The good, the bad and the very hot mess this week (no pun intended).
