Today we're kicking off something new: The Craftsman Series, which celebrates the craft within the pond industry. We're starting out with the very basics: discussing what being a craftsman means! Eric's guest is his good friend Tyson Matthias, a versatile craftsman and talented woodworker in his own right.

Eric and Tyson share their insight on:

  • The necessity of tools to craftsmen and the importance of having the right tool for the job.
  • The art and integrity that comes along with craftsmanship -some talented craftsmen take a very long time to complete their work because they only create things of the utmost quality.
  • How the guys developed their crafts and who taught them tips and tricks in their early days in the industry. As well as how these techniques are still benefiting them today.
  • The frustration of working on a job and seeing that "hacks" have been working there before, caring only about quantity and not about quality.
  • Why a craftsman should never stop learning and training.
  • The importance of being exact and attention to detail as a craftsman.
  • Why it's a gift to be able to pass your trade on to someone else before you pass away.
