Ep8: Sonic capers with Saiful Idris

from Lion City Rock · host The Fast Colors, Chris Toh, Kevin Mathews

In 2015, Saiful Idris and his band The Great Spy Experiment finally called it a day after 10 years of rocking the nation with their infectiously catchy brand of dance-punk-rock.But that wasn't the end of the road for Saiful, who has carved a new niche for himself putting out pumping dance/electronic music that seems a far cry from what The Great Spy Experiment was about, but really, it was the next logical step in his evolution as a music fan.In between being an educator, he created Surrender HQ and SRNDR Records, providing a platform for electronic music talent. Plus, he also had time to form a fake band that resulted in a gig he didn't quite expect! And Saiful isn't quite done just yet - the only question is, where will he go from here?*****Listen to Saiful's work with SRNDR Records and The Great Spy ExperimentIf you liked listening to this episode, leave a like; follow, leave a comment and subscribe to Lion City Rock wherever you get your podcasts. You can find Lion City Rock on the Fast Colors Facebook and Insta, and you can be part of the Lion City Rock Subreddit.Lion City Rock theme: composed by Kevin Mathews, performed by Kevin Mathews and Chris Toh. I just moved to a new city, to start a new job, with new people… And I have no idea what I’m doing. There’s a huge pressure to know exactly what you’re doing and the exact trajectory that your life is on… But it’s completely unrealistic. And with social media, it can be so easy to feel behind people, because everyone else’s life looks so perfect. So I wanted to offer a genuinely transparent look into what a 20 something-year-old’s life in a new city looks like.
