Ep81: Lena Wallin-Kantzy Women In Basketball is the next frontier

from Shooting The Breeze

We’re incredibly honoured to host a female advocate for women’s basketball from the highest levels of FIBA, Lena Wallin-Kantzy, the first woman elected to the FIBA Executive Committee and currently the Deputy Chair of the Competitions Commission, encompassing Women in Basketball.A trailblazer within the global federation model of basketball, Lena provides us with a unique perspective of the vision to create more opportunities for women through six key objectives identified as part of FIBA Strategic Priority for Women In Basketball. With the FIBA Women's World Cup being staged in Australia, a hoops nation that Lena describes as “...one of the leading countries in women's basketball ", she shares great insight into the evolution of both the event, our region as well as the powerhouse of the EuroLeague as evidenced by the steady migration of our local talent that is only set to grow. It’s not often we get a truly international perspective of the women's game, and an understanding of FIBA's vision from one of its most influential advocates. Lena shares her wishes for the women’s game as both mother and fan about the importance of growing the game collectively and positioning it as a global sport with the power to not only inspire, but as a powerful and accessible movement that does not discriminate as to socio-economic status, disability, gender and location. Some wonderful insights, and a common purpose has us singing from the same song sheet.Don’t forget to like, share and leave a review so we can get more Hoops content to you!Join us on our socials - Twitter: @TheBreezePod and IG: @shootingthebreezepod
