Aliyah comes from a Sunni background and spent about 6 years in formal Islamic boarding schools in Britain, Canada, and Pakistan, including Al-Huda Institute, where San Bernardino shooter Tashfeen Malik was also a student. At age 19, Aliyah decided to leave the faith completely. Aliyah is also a researcher at the House of Lords in Parliament.
