Ephesians 1
from Riverside Reading Plan Hosted by Riverside Church
Paul's opening blessing traces salvation from the Father's eternal choice through the Son's redemption to the Spirit's sealing, revealing the Trinitarian nature of divine grace that accomplishes God's purpose to unite all things in Christ. His prayer for the Ephesians' enlightenment emphasizes understanding their hope, inheritance, and the immeasurable greatness of God's power demonstrated in Christ's resurrection and exaltation. The description of Christ as head over all things for the church, which is His body and fullness, establishes the church's cosmic significance in God's eternal plan.
