Ephesians 4
from Riverside Reading Plan Hosted by Riverside Church
Paul's appeal for unity based on one body, Spirit, hope, Lord, faith, baptism, and God demonstrates how Christian fellowship should reflect the Trinity's unity while maintaining diversity of gifts and functions. His teaching about Christ's ascension gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastor-teachers aims at equipping saints for ministry and building up the body until everyone reaches mature manhood. The contrast between the Gentiles' former futility of mind and believers' new life in Christ emphasizes both intellectual and moral transformation through the gospel.
