A HUSBAND MUST CONTINUE TO LIVE IN LOVE 1 Peter 3:7, Colossians 3:19 HUSBANDS THIS IS HOW YOU DEFINE AND EXECUTE YOUR COMMAND TO LOVE: “AS CHRIST LOVED THE CHURCH” - V25 HUSBANDS ARE TO LOVE INTENTIONALLY & SACRIFICIALLY: “as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” - V26-27 HUSBANDS ARE TO LOVE FOR THE PURPOSE OF SANCTIFICATION: “that he might sanctify her…” PART 2 V28-29a HUSBANDS ARE TO LOVE IN UNBREAKABLE UNITY: “In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.” The physical and relational intimacy of marriage is to be regarded as permanent as the commitment you have to your own body. - He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh… o God has declared marriage as a relationship that is bound in a way that can not be separated. §  “the two shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31, 1 Corinthian 6:12-20 Matthew 19:3–9  And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” 4 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” 7They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” 8 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.” o God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16) (Permitted in cases of  Adultery, Matt 19:9 or Abandonment, 1 Cor 7:12-16) V29b-30 HUSBANDS ARE TO LOVE IN PROVISION: “…but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.” - Nourishes 2 Peter 1:3 (ESV) — 3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 1 Timothy 5:8 (ESV) — 8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. - Cherishes 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (ESV) — 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
