Ephesians 6:1

Ephesians 6:1–4 (ESV) Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2“Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. THE ADDRESSEES: Children, WE ARE TO REJOICE IN GOD BECAUSE HE GIVES THE BLESSING OF CHILDREN- Psalm 127:3–5 (ESV) — 3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. JESUS’ JOY OVER CHILDREN– Mark 10:13–16  THE AUTHORITY: Obey Your parents DISOBEDIENCE TO PARENTS IS A MATTER OF SIN… Deuteronomy 21:18–21  Romans 1:29–32 (ESV) 2 Timothy 3:1–5  THE ARENA: in the lord, EXPECTATION OF PARENTS TEACHING THE WORK OF GOD, AND HIS GLORIOUS PROMISES IN THE GOSPEL! Deuteronomy 6:1–9  THE REASON: for this is right.
