Epic Runs of the World, published by Lonely Planet

from Running Book Reviews with Alan and Liz · host Alan and Liz

Send us Fan MailEpic Runs of the World is a compilation of running destinations, each described by a different author. The publisher, Lonely Planet, has a travel information website and has published many other travel books which are also featured on their website. We are not travelling at the moment but the website, and this book, can be a great resource for planning your future adventures. You may even realize that one of the epic runs are in your own back yard; we found out that Montreal's Mont-Royal is featured in the book! Since this book has no single author, we took a slightly different approach. We contacted a few of our running buddies who have done some of the runs in the book, and asked them to tell us about their experiences. This is a  “coffee table” style book in hard cover, and features colour photos of each destination. The runs are organized by continent starting with Africa, and followed by Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. There are the main runs listed in the table of contents, and each one is then followed by 3 other “more like this” runs which feature less detailed explanations and no pictures. The main runs each have descriptions and pictures over several pages, and include other useful information like where to stay and what to wear.Big thank you to the publisher, Lonely Planet, for providing a review copy of the book.
