Epiosde 39 - Obvious Child

from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil

SNL alum Jenny Slate plays Donna, a twenty-something stand-up comic in wintry Brooklyn.  At the beginning of this film, Donna's boyfriend breaks up with her, sending our humorous heroine into a downward spiral of anxiety and depression.  She has a one-night stand with a good-natured fellow named Max, and you can guess what the consequences of that are.  "Obvious Child" is that rare rom-com centered around getting an abortion.  A film that has never existed before and yet is so prime to be seen by the public.  Sweet performances abound in this unique love story that is so matter of fact, it may not even be that controversial!  Phil and Andrew delve into hot button issues in their latest podcast.
