Episode 0005 - Ed

from Feel Free to Deviate

Episode 5 features Ed Mubarek, who is an old friend of mine. We’ve know each other since high school, we’ve lived with each other, played in bands together, and stuff like that. He’s a super smart guy, is very well read, and he is a great musician. Although we didn’t really talk about it, I believe he has a degree in journalism and is trained as a recording engineer, but…He fails to meet most of the standard definitions of success. Like me, he is currently unemployed, and his last job was in a bagel shop, which is not something that most people aspire to, even if they love bagels. We talk at length about career and identity as well as the various shortcomings of “the system.” You may not agree with everything he has to say, but keep in mind that there are a lot of different points of view in the world. I’m not saying you have to agree with all of them, but it’s a good idea to listen to them and even investigate where other people are coming from.As I mentioned, Ed is trained is an audio guy. If you live in the greater Los Angeles area and are in need of audio services look him up. He can do it, and he has an impeccable ear. Here are some “woefully out of date links” for you to check out. His words, not mine. He’s not particularly good at promoting himself, which is something I can relate to. https://soundcloud.com/ed-mubarekhttps://[email protected] curse words flow in this episode. That’s what happens sometimes. I edited out a million f-bombs and other bombs, but you would never know it.
