The passage of the 21st Century Cures Act earlier this year catapulted the concept of “real-world evidence” into the spotlight, with many biopharmaceutical companies wondering whether this could be the panacea the industry has been looking for to attain product success. Bottom line, according to Thompson, is that it’s complicated – but the fact of the matter is that approval alone no longer gets you to the end zone; more likely, it will get you to the 50-yard line.
