Why did I start SkinGlow Africa, after almost two decades in this industry?In this first episode, I take you back to where it all began — a fashion degree I never ended up using, a Somatology qualification I enrolled in almost out of rebellion, and an oncology ward that changed how I understood beauty permanently. From there, the path that led through L'Oréal, MAC Cosmetics, and Apple, and the gap I kept noticing no matter how sophisticated the industry around me became.South Africa accounts for more than 27% of all beauty revenue across the entire African continent. We are not a test market. We are the market. And yet so much of the global beauty conversation still treats us as an afterthought.This episode is about the roads that got built in this industry — and what happens once we're standing on them.
