Episode 002 - Dr. Pat Davidson: Breaking Down the Basic Principles of Training

from Speed of Life Podcast · host Derek Hansen

In Episode 002, I sit down with Dr. Pat Davidson to discuss his training philosophy and how it has evolved over years of coaching others, training trainers and throwing himself into all sorts of physical challenges.  Whether it is team sports, mixed martial arts, powerlifting or bodybuilding, Pat has risked life and limb to challenge himself and gain a better understanding of how training can be optimized.  We discuss the key connections he makes with students while teaching his courses worldwide, breaking down the most complex tasks into critical components that form the foundation of performance.  He outlines his system and the guidelines that make up his system, making it easy for coaches and trainers to operate with guard rails, but also a level of independence to explore and innovate with their clients.  You can feel the passion for training coming from each of Pat’s responses, giving us the impression that he views every training project as a puzzle that he is trying to assemble as effectively and efficiently as possible.  Pat Davidson, Ph.D, is an exercise physiologist, strength and conditioning coach, author, consultant, and traveling lecturer. Pat started out in the fitness world as an athlete who was looking to find any training and nutrition tool possible to make him the best he could possibly be at sports. This passion for training knowledge ultimately led Pat to pursuing a Master’s in Science in Strength and Conditioning, and a Ph.D in Exercise Physiology. Pat has worked as a Professor of Exercise Science at Springfield College and Brooklyn College, along with being the Director of Continuing Education and Training Methodology at Peak Performance in NYC.  He continues to present his concepts and ideas throughout the world to strength coaches, personal trainers and rehabilitation professionals.  You can find out more information on Dr. Pat Davidson below:Instagram:                   https://www.instagram.com/dr.patdavidson/  Website:                      https://www.drpatdavidson.net/You can subscribe to the Speed of Life Podcast via any of the following links:Spreaker https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/speed-of-life-podcast--6893415Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/4pKknVG2wNItjJedBbH3v4Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/speed-of-life-podcast/id1882245235iHeart Radio https://iheart.com/podcast/325517264Amazon Music https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/99a1193a-a928-4134-86bd-27716ae49c22  You can reach Derek Hansen at the following locations:  Websiteshttp://www.SprintCoach.comhttps://www.runningmechanics.com/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/derekmhansen/YouTubehttp://youtube.com/derekmhansen Twitter/Xhttps://x.com/DerekMHansenLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/derekmhansen/
