Episode 003 // (Don’t let your crappy childhood get the better of your kids. Side A: Corey)
from Dads of the Multiverse Podcast · host Dads of the Multiverse
Welcome back to Dads of the Multiverse. The weekly show where regular dads try to help other regular dads the best we can. Each new episode drops on Mondays at 3AM EST so that our west coast friends can’t say they’ll see us on Sundays. I’m Josh, otherwise known as Bearded, and I’m joined by my co-host Corey, also known as FailMountain, and we’re here to disrupt the normality of mental health. The topics we discuss won’t always be sunshine and rainbows, but they’ll definitely all be sprinkled in with discussions on varying characters throughout the entertainment multiverse, tying in what they experience in their own stories to help illustrate these subject matters in our own nerdy minds, hopefully adding insight and perspective to help push us along our journey. We’re here to arm dads, parents, and those that may just find this information useful with tools and knowledge to work through struggles, and gain an advantage in life. These topics are relative to what’s important to us as the co-hosts of this show, but also driven by our community. So join our discords, leave us some feedback, and help steer all of us along this quest to becoming the ultimate versions of ourselves. This week, we're going to dig deeper into CPTSD, or Complex Post-Traumatic Syndrome Disorder. Childhood trauma is also referred to Adverse Childhood Experiences, or (ACE). They’re defined as traumatic events that happen between ages 1 and 17. These negative experiences affect a child’s brain and health as they grow into adults. ACEs can lead to mental health or chronic health conditions. We're going over triggers or identifiers to look out for in your own self-reflection, or possibly in your own kids. It is important that you address your past and those negative, not-so-easy experiences to better your own child's upbringing. As a parent you don't have to bury your past, and instead learn from it and share your experiences and feelings with your little one as they grow up. We're not licensed therapists. We're just here to talk about what's important to us, and hopefully help people out along the way. Your hosts this week are Corey and Josh.
