Episode 008: "34"
from The 1% Journey Hosted by Brandon DeVere
"34" Yesterday I decided it was time for a new pair of jeans so I headed out to the store. I hate shopping. I like to walk in, grab what I need and walk back out. Get in. Get out. I’m even like this in Costco. Speed-walking through, weaving in and out of flatbed and red cart traffic, with an occasional pitstop for a sample of course. It's not rare for me to pick up 3 or less items at a time. I just don’t like walking around a store, wondering if I need something that I didn’t go in there for. With that being said, yesterday’s trip was a little longer than expected. Except, this time I didn’t mind that much. For going on close to a decade or so I have been hovering between a size 36 and 38. And in all reality, the only reason I didn’t hit a 40 was because I was embarrassed. This caused me to squeeze every ounce I could into a 38. I was just shy of having to get a girdle to keep the “overflow” at bay. But yesterday was different. I grabbed a couple pairs of 36’s and headed to the fitting room, tried them on and “would you look at that"? They’re too big. “Hmm… interesting”, I thought. I went back out and grabbed a couple more pairs, this time adding a 34 to the mix. After one more trip to the fitting room I had found the right pair. Size 34. I was ecstatic! I have been losing weight and feeling better over the past year but to see that I had dropped a size or 2 for the first time in almost a decade... What a confidence boost! Even when you are focused on knocking down daily goals as I have been, it is still nice to get a reminder of your progress with a benchmark. And in this case, the benchmark is the number… “34” #IODcommited #impactoftheday #poweredbyimpactclub #the1percentjourney
