Episode #017-The Biggest Driver In All Your Decisions

from IGNITE Your Fire by Erik Sorenson · host Erik Sorenson

YOU WILL LIVE WHO YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE! This statement sounds so simple yet it affects every decision you make. Think about it, shifting who you believe you are will change every decision you make and ultimately your destiny. So many are stuck and don't know how to get out. This is the key, to get rid of the limiting stories you keep telling yourself and shift who you believe you are EVEN BEFORE you become it. It is the hardest thing to do because you have to believe, with everything you are right NOW... before your eyes see it, before your environment shows it and before it's actually reality! But once you believe it, it immediately becomes true even before it becomes fact and as you continue to believe it, you will become it and it will come to pass. Why do you currently live the way that you do? Because it’s consistent with the identity you’ve created for yourself….who you believe you are! The decisions you make, the way you talk, the way you act are all driven by the greatest force in humanity…identity. It drives all of your behavior. If it’s consistent with your identity, you do it. If it’s not, you don’t (or you’ll never be consistent with it) If you are trying to change and can’t, it’s because something in the identity you created is keeping you from it, put another way, your standards. Achieving your goals is not about doing, it’s about becoming. You must raise your standards because you don’t get what you want, you will always get what you tolerate. So when you want to make a big change, first shift your identity…become, and the path to achievement will open up.

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
