Episode 020 with Megan Elam

from The Junkyard Love Podcast · host Jacob Rhines

My friendship with Megan Elam is one I cherish closely. Our adventures as pals expand to more depths year by year, and our conversations are light and full of dance and laughter. Megan gives me the low-down on her job and career situation from past to present, and where it will take her next. We speak on her being a speech pathologist who has been through the rungs of college and nursing school, then she tells about her change of scenery and the big move to portland. Meg shares how her mentor came into her life while simply working at Starbucks - and how it led to becoming a teacher, paraeducator, and 'tough as nails' team member. Building with her work-team at Family House Academy brought Megan great wins and she shares them happily. We talk about the differences in public schools and private schools such as FHA. We talk about our trials and tribulations through many Spartan Races, and we complain about burpees a bit. (hashtags finishers) Megan tells us all about her trip to Ghana Africa to teach at a school for kids with disabilities, we reflect back with gratitude on her relationship with a mentor from ages 21-24 and she expresses her enjoyment of working alongside children vs. adults. Megan and I share our personal experiences with the Wholoe30 Diet and we chat for a long while about eating habits and diets per individual. We talk about saying no and implementing change, and I give my view on health measurements. Meggy's open-hearted demeanor, willingness to learn, drive, humor, joyful spirit, and contagious smile have always brought happiness to my life. I am happy to know her.
