Episode 03: The Role Of Compression in Lymphedema Management.

from Lymphedema Podcast · host Betty Westbrook

Source: www.physioandmassageinstitute.com Compression is the foundation of managing your lymphedema. Without daily compression the progress you have made can be quickly lost. Use the anatomical gallery for images to illustrate some of the medical words in this episode. Compression is the most restrictive element of lymphedema treatment. Lets face it, it is also the thing we hate most about lymphedema. The daily bandages, sleeves, pumps, bras and other movement restricting garments worn to manage the fluid. If it wasn’t bad enough that you have to go about your day with swollen limbs you know have to wear an eye catching garment or bandage of the swollen limb(s). Leading to questions and funny looks. Episode 03 breaks down, what I refer to as, the nitty gritty of lymphedema. Essentially the biological functions that result in the build up of lymph fluid in a particular region.
