Pattie took a trip around America as part of her recovery from being hit by a driver, and found the goodness of strangers and the beautiful community that a bicycle creates. Though she lives in a city that doesn’t make it easy to get around on a bike, she is determined to keep riding hers and planting the seeds of change for future generations.Chapters00:00 Journey to Rediscovery: A Life on Two Wheels07:49 Navigating City Hall: The Challenges of Urban Planning10:44 The State of Cycling Infrastructure: Progress and Setbacks13:57 Empowering Women and Girls in Cycling16:29 Everyday Activism: Riding for Change19:34 Facing Fears: The Reality of Cycling Safety22:26 The Journey Across America: Finding Freedom and Connection25:10 The Importance of Representation: Women on Bikes28:14 Community Impact: Inspiring the Next Generation31:11 The Gendered Nature of Cycling33:01 Harnessing Economic Power for Change35:20 Finding Joy in Cycling Advocacy38:27 Joy as an Act of Resistance41:27 The Multimodal Approach to Cycling45:19 The Economic Impact of Cycling Infrastructure49:15 The Importance of Real-World Experience51:32 Turning Underestimation into Opportunity57:10 Empowering Women Through CyclingLinksPattie’s Book: https://roundamericawithaduck.com/ Support my podcast at www.pattybikes.com/podcastPre-order my book in Canada from McNally Robinsonand in the USA from Bookshop.orgSign up for my newsletter
