So we have had a little brief hiatus here. I'm sorry that we weren't present there for a while. Unfortunately, I was a little under the weather with this amazing viral bronchitis that has been going around. So I had a much different sounding voice.
It was very recipe and sounded as if I had potentially changed smoked cigarettes for a long time. And now that after several rounds of or cups of throat coat tea, one of my favorites and some use and X and just a little rest and relaxing, I am back. But today, the topic I want to talk about is probably one of my favorite treatments. We do in the office and probably absolutely one of the most popular treatments we do at Detroit aesthetics company, the office that I own located in Metro Detroit, Plymouth, Michigan there in Old Village, downtown area is cool, sculpting.
I mean, geez, cool, sculpting is all over the place now. You probably hear about it watching TV. They got Alergen, who now owns the company Zeltique. They purchased Zeltique was the parent company of cool sculpting.
They recently purchased Alergen recently purchased Zeltique. And now so Alergen on cool sculpting. But ever since that happens, Zeltique was doing an amazing job at really doing a lot of consumer advertising. So you probably saw a lot of their commercials, especially if you watch a lot of the TV shows that I may or may not watch like Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Bravo, channels like that, you would see their commercials on their own.
Also on the major networks as well, ABC and so forth. But especially now you're probably seeing those commercials all over the place. Another familiar face you'll see associated with cool sculpting is Deborah Messing from Will and Grace on NBC. She's the new spokesperson for Cool Sculpting.
I mean, you still have Miley Sims was the spokesperson, but now we're very fortunate that we get Deborah Messing. So that's pretty cool. And then real recently we had some awesome videos with Johnny Weir, probably one of my favorite Olympic commentators. If we remember back to the Winter Olympics, him and Tera Lipinski, the very avant-garde, almost Hunger Games, Esque outfits.
But Johnny Weir did some really fun segments there for cool sculpting as well. But cool sculpting probably the thing that you're really used to hearing is the commercial you'll hear on TV a lot for cool sculpting. This is probably one of my favorite ones, but give you a little clip here of it. I probably heard it on like the major networks Bravo and so forth.
Fitting into my skinny jeans again? That's cool. You want to get in some thread? That's cool.
Looking fabulous in my little black dress? That's cool. Getting the body you want without surgery, needles or downtime? That's cool sculpting.
Cool sculpting is the only FDA-cleared non-invasive treatment that targets and breezes away stubborn fat cells. Visit coolsculpting.com today and register for a chance to be free. So yeah, that's probably one of the most popular commercials that you'll hear out there for cool sculpting. And then real recently they released these really other fun ones, the cool sculpting commercials.
They're calling them kind of the cool versus not cool cool sculpting commercials. The most recent one they have out there that you'll see is they have this lady and she's standing in front of this giant red laser looking device and they have this really funny version. Wait till you stubborn belly fat. The roasted core wrap.
Wow. Not cool. Freezing away fat cells with cool sculpting. Now that's cool.
Cool sculpting. So cool is that one. You know, the roasted belly fat wrap and they have all these really funny commercials that kind of go back and forth between all of the super crazy things that people do to lose weight. I mean, if I were to ask you right now as a listener, you know, hey, shoot me a message of any of the craziest things you've ever done to kind of lose weight or lose fat, there'd probably be a massive laundry list of that.
But cool sculpting. Probably the most common question I get outside of how does it work, which I'm going to talk about here in a second, but does it work? And the answer is absolutely yes, yes, yes, a thousand times. Yes, for the right patient who's gone through the correct consultation with the staff.
And one thing I will say about Jordan, who works at my office, she's the cool sculpting expert that we have. Jordan is phenomenal at what she does and she knows how to select the appropriate cool sculpting candidate and make sure that they're what we call a treatment transformation plan is going to work for them. So Jordan, it really comes down to the assessment skill, making sure that you have a person who has been trained, Jordan has gone to cool sculpting university, which is the training program that is put on by the Times LT, you know, Alergen, there's some new advanced class for cool sculpting university that we're going to be fortunate enough to be able to go to here. In June, we're really looking forward to that.
Our office in Metro Detroit is going to be one of the first ones to get to attend that. We're very thankful for that there's very limited spots and because of the volume that we do that's available to us. And it's a real honor to be able to do that. But, you know, if you're out there and you're looking to do cool sculpting, you know, obviously, if you're in the Metro Detroit area, I have a great place for you to go.
The Detroit aesthetics company at Detroit Med Spa.com, you know, come see us. We have an awesome cool sculpting treatment room. But if you're not, if you're from another part of the country or even the world, make sure you're going to a place that has the provider that you've gone to, or that you're seeing has been to cool sculpting university. Your technician hopefully has been through that program.
And so they really fully understand cool sculpting. And they've been through that. But does it work? Absolutely, it works.
The number one mythos, you're not going to lose weight. Cool sculpting is not a weight loss treatment. It's not what it is. Think of it as what we're treating, we're treating cool sculpting is to make sure that you understand we're treating the subcutaneous fat.
So this is the fat that sits underneath the skin or the swishy fat. That's the stuff you can squeeze. You might say pinch an inch or, you know, that's the stuff that you poke in your belly. That's the swishy stuff.
The hard fat, that's visceral fat or fat that's underneath the muscle. That's a lot of the fat that gives men like the beer belly look that kind of big. I don't want to call it a gut, but it's what it is. And I was one of those people.
I'll give you my story here in a little bit as an individual. When we first got cool sculpting at Detroit aesthetics company, I really couldn't treat myself because of the visceral fat that I had. I had a lot of belly fat and I had to go through lifestyle changes of diet and exercise to get there. You know, cool, cool sculpting is not an excuse to get the treatment done and then eat, eat bad again, you know, just and make not good lifestyle choices.
You know, we encourage all our cool sculpting clients to get other exercise, a lot of our clients use cool sculpting, maybe as a catalyst to get themselves in, in better shape and they're going to see the results. They're going to every wreck can disrupt lives, but some cause catastrophic injuries that change everything in an instant. When your life has been dramatically changed, you need a firm with experience handling catastrophic injury cases at Trey Morris, injury lawyers. We have the experience and resources to handle catastrophic injury claims and help people move forward after life altering events, real cases, real injuries, paid spokesperson, 3-4-L-A-26-2-0-9-1-0.
Start to see that definition show up in their abdomen. They're going to see the fat loss in the subcutaneous area in their arms or their inner and outer thighs, maybe the flanks, left handle area, bra fat, back fat. Underneath the chin, that's another popular one. We do the sub mental fat, the double chin, the wobble as they call it, certainly kind of cruise ship.
And you could tell a lot of the advertisements came from the UK, the company that ran the spouse from the UK. And so they were talking about your your wobble under your chin and I took the minute to realize, oh, like, your chin fat, your double chin is what we'd say here in the US, but it's funny to see that and see the different marketing that's out there. But it's not a weight loss plan. The idea is if cool sculpting, for instance, the ideology that I'll tell clients is imagine if I had you stand in front of a mirror and I shoved underneath your shirt, three, I hit the first I had you stand with just a t-shirt and underwear on, on a scale and take your weight, let's say weight 180 pounds.
Okay, you look in the mirror and you see what you look like. And then if I put three bags of jet puff marshmallows underneath your abdomen and I had you stand back on a scale and look in the mirror, you're probably still 180 pounds because those jet puff marshmallows don't really weigh anything. That's the idea of when you do cool sculpting. You really don't lose weight.
We're not losing weight. We're using subcutaneous fat cells. And another question we get asked a lot with cool sculpting as well. When I get the treatment, once it's gone, is it gone?
Absolutely, subcutaneous fat cells, you have a set number of subcutaneous fat cells that have been present since you're typically probably in your late adolescence or teens and it's unless you become kind of super morbidly obese, those fat cells don't split or multiply after that state. So you have a set number of subcutaneous fat cells and the really cool thing is once they're gone, they're gone for good. So they're not going to come back. They're not going to grow back.
But you still have to make smart choices because if you do gain weight, you're going to store fat cells somewhere and it's just going to store in the areas where you have fat cells that weren't treated with cool sculpting. So, but the treatment does stay with you. It does have longevity to it, which kind of piggybacks on another, you know, back to really choosing your provider. Make sure you're going to somebody who's really, really trained and knows what they're doing because this treatment is permanent.
The results are permanent. I've had clients come in who've had consults done at other cool sculpting treatment centers in the area and they give me their treatment plan. And I know in my heart of hearts and in my mind in Jordan as well, that is not a treatment I would do with somebody because it could give them a really bad outcome. They could maybe get like a ridge or they're having to just look right if they were treating that.
And it's sometimes it's harder work for us to explain to them, you know, this is not what you want because it's going to kind of go opposite of what they want. But, you know, most of the time when we really sit down and educate them and talk to them and show them that we do know what we're talking about and here's why they understand because it's all about understanding an anatomy and understanding how the fat pads like in the body, but with cool sculpting, the second most common question I get is, you know, does it work? Yeah, it does absolutely. And does it last?
It's the second question. There's a last year does it stays with you? Zeltique at the time had some pictures of a client who treated themselves with cool sculpting had some awesome definition under abdomen, took a picture for a after picture, gained 20 pounds, took a picture, then lost the 20 pounds and the results stuck. You know, they really stayed with the client.
So that was really nice to see. And that's the other thing about cool sculpting. The reason I really trust it, you know, and there's a lot of other fat loss treatments out there that you're going to see. Cool sculpting is the only one that's freezing based.
The medical term in the medical name for the cool sculpting treatment is cryo lipolysis, cryo meaning cold or freezing, like polysis meaning cellular death. Fat cells are dying. It freezes the fat cells and the fat cells die. It does not damage the other tissue though because fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than the rest of your tissue, which is primarily like we know made of water.
Think of it as butter, butter, which is a fat at room temperature is a salad. So fat freezes at a higher temperature. The way cool sculpting works then is we put these applicators and they have a little bit of a vacuum in there in our office. We do have the newest applicators.
So the treatments can be anywhere from an applicator to anywhere from 35 to 45 minutes for the advantage applicators. We do still have the cool smooth pro for the outer thigh. Sometimes we'll use it on the abdomen of the flanks as well. That one because there's no vacuum associated with it is a 90 minute treatment.
So it's a little bit longer, but the newer applicators make sure you're going to a center that always has the new applicators as well. The advantage family of applicators are a 35 minute cycle typically 35 to 45 minutes, 45 meaning if you're using the advantage plus or the larger applicators a little bit longer treatment and also for the sub-mental area. So the vacuum kind of pulls the tissue in there and it's not uncomfortable. You feel a little bit, but it's not bad.
So we map out, we use these templates and we kind of, yeah, you got to put on in our office. It's these real sexy disposable shorts that you put on. When you come in for a console and for treatment, we make everybody put the same thing on. And yes, we take pictures, we have standardized computer system that takes your picture in front of a black curtain and we have you kind of, you know, hopefully you've never had a mugshot taken, but you know, it's probably very similar from what I've seen on Law and Order.
You know, we have you, you know, turn to the right, turn to the right, turn to the right, and turn to the left, turn to the left. We take all these pictures and if you spin around in a circle and is it flattering? No. You know, do we show the pictures to anybody?
No, not unless you give us permission. If you sign the consent and say we can use your before and afters, which a lot of clients, you know, once they see their afters, they're like, yeah, show them. It looks awesome. We don't show your face or anything.
That's not in there. So unless you have like a distinctive tattoo that says, you know, my name is Kyle, you know, nobody's going to really know it's you. But so we take some pictures and we develop your plan and, you know, yeah, we got to sit down and Jordan sits down. If you primarily she doesn't, I do cool sculpting consults every once in a while as well.
But Jordan, who's kind of expert, you know, yeah, she's got to kind of squeeze the belly fat or squeeze your arm fat or look at your inner and outer thigh or under your arms. You know, and is it, is it the most pleasant thing to do? No, but you know, when you look at the long run, you're going to think yourself, well, I'm going to be getting rid of this. So we develop a treatment plan and then we kind of, you know, a majority of our clients get to to treatment.
So they're going to get their first treatment. We're going to set a date for the cool sculpting treatment and then typically anywhere from four to eight weeks after that, we're going to do a second round of cool sculpting. So we talked about cycles and we're doing cool sculpting. The cycles every time we put the applicator on in a treatment, treatment might be for applicators.
We might just put them in a diamond pattern on the abdomen. That could be one treatment could be. I did one recently that was four cycles or four applicators on the abdomen and a diamond pattern. We did two on each love handle.
So two on each flank and then we did two on their kind of their upper back area. They had some back fat that we wanted to treat and then we did one under each arm. So I mean, that was a longer treatment. The patient was with us there for a little bit longer that day and that's fine.
Everybody's different. Everybody's got a different body type. Everybody has different goals of things that they want to do. You don't have to do it all in one day.
You might want to split it up between a couple days, but we do it with a super comfortable room. Make sure when you go get cool sculpting, you have a nice room. We have TV and movies and cable and Internet Wi-Fi, whatever you want to do. You can sit there, hang out, order lunch in, whatever's comfortable for you.
We can order you a pennehara or grub hub or something like that, whatever you feel like for the day. It's just out or something, but it's comfortable. So we do the assessment. Every once in a while, we'll have clients will say like, you know, I know I want it.
You have time or we can do the consult and then let's just do it that day. That doesn't happen to tunnel. Typically, it's just if we get out of town client who's coming in specifically to see us for cool sculpting, but typically we'll do the consult and then we'll schedule a day. We'll say, okay, what's good?
You will look at our schedule and they come back in for the treatment. We treat them on that second day. We normally tell them where kind of comfy clothes, something that can get a little goopy because the applicator that we have to put these gel pads down to help protect the skin and they're very sticky. Kind of feels like a honey or like a gov-y nectar and our gov-y stir-ups.
It's a little sticky. So I say, you know, bring in something that can get a little messy because we do again, have you put on those sexy disposable shorts, but still bathing suit bottoms normally work good for women because they're easy to wash and so forth. But you come in there and so we do the treatment. We mark out again.
We get the templates out again after the consult. We're going to get them out again on the day of treatment. We're going to redraw out that treatment plan so we kind of know where to put the applicators on it and then we just start treating it, put the applicator on vacuum kind of pulls the fat in, fat pulls in and then Jordan or I, we hit the button and we start the cooling cycle and then you're going to pretty instantaneously kind of start to feel like it really, really cold. And the first five minutes, you might have a little bit of a burning sensation.
A lot of people might describe it as the sensation that if you go outside and you stick your hands in snow and then run them under hot water, you might feel like that. So it starts to maybe burn a little bit and then that kind of goes away. It goes completely numb after about five minutes. It's really not bad.
It's totally tolerable. I have done work on my laptop when I was treating myself. I watched TV, did phone calls, no big deal. And then when the time's up, we, the little beeper that we wear kind of goes off, makes us feel super cool.
Like we're in the 90s again, we get to wear these pagers that are attached to the cool sculpting machines. We know when the cycle's done and if you need us, you can hit a button and the pages us. So we love that feature of the cool, but we come back in the room, we turn the back and off, take the applicator off and we kind of see when we touch the area, it feels like frozen butter. We call it like a frozen stick of butter.
Is it sexy? No, no, nobody wants to see their frozen fat on our abdomen. But then what we do is probably what I tell clients is the most least desirable part of the treatment, but it's really not horrible at all is we do massage that area and it's super important to massage the treatment area for two minutes. What that does is that kind of just redistributes and kind of spreads out those fat cells that were just frozen because that we have found through science that when one fat cell dies or when one cell dies, sometimes through natural kind of apoptosis or cellular death, other cells around that cell that just died will also die.
So you make it a few bonus extra cells that that die when we when we massage that area. So we do massage for two minutes, which also is going to kind of help re bring the bring the the treatment area back up to temperature and it's going to still feel a little cold and we have nice hot towels that kind of wipe you down with the stickiness off and so forth. If we have to do more cycles, we keep going. Now you go home and it does it feels a little funny.
I can tell you when I did my abdomen, it felt funny. It felt completely numb. So I would touch it and you couldn't feel anything felt like it was asleep. That sensation for me lasted about three weeks.
Some clients say it might and you get used to it. You totally you don't even notice it after you know 24 or 48 hours. If you want to really notice it is if I go to Pilates and I would lay on my abdomen on the reformer and be like, I was kind of weird. I can't feel anything with my abdomen but wasn't bad.
And then that sensation does come back. You know, typically, you know, I've had some clients say it only lasted a couple days. Other clients that lasted, you know, three, four weeks. Everybody's different.
It doesn't hurt you at all. Just depends on when those nerves kind of wake back up and you get that sensory function back. But then that is really no other major side effects. Some people do get some weird nerve pain, but I've actually found I can kind of say anecdotally that was with the original or what we call the legacy applicators where the vacuum was pretty different on that.
These new top technology applicators is what I would call them or the advantage applicators, you know, knock on wood, knocking on the wood table. I'm sitting on here. We haven't had to, you know, really treat any of that post treatment pain the way we used to with the other applicators with these new ones. I think the new vacuum technology has really kind of helped that.
And then the client kind of goes home and do you see results that say no, anything you might look a little bloated the next day. So, you know, gals especially if you're or, you know, guys and gals, if you got a wedding on a weekend, you know, don't do cool sculpting on that Wednesday Thursday Friday. If you got a big event or something on the weekend because you might be a little bloated. Some women have told me it feels like after they have cool sculpting.
The next couple of days might feel like they're on their menstrual cycle. They feel a little bloated. It's just things are a little puffy, a little swollen from the treatment there and it goes down, goes down pretty quick. And then kind of everything just goes about its norm and then we see at four weeks at the office there to try to study something.
We take her after pictures. So we take a look at them and then we start to see results. Some clients start to see results at that four week mark. I recently had a client in who was getting ready for her wedding and at four weeks it was like, wow, I mean, we were both like, I'm taking her after pictures.
And she's standing there doing it and like my face is like just like beaming and she's like, what is it? I'm like, oh my God, I can't wait to show you these are awesome. So that was super exciting. So that was four weeks.
I've had other clients at four weeks on. I've had another clients though. I think if I remember right, my sister was one of them. I'm one of them too treating myself.
I didn't see anything till more towards that eight to 10 weeks, you know, but it can take up to 12 weeks to see those optimal results or those final results and you will, you know, you can lose up to 20% of that subcutaneous fat layer per treatment. So we can treat again as soon as four weeks. Some clients like to wait a little longer so they can see more of their results. Other clients are like, Nope, I'm going to do the two treatments.
It's four weeks. Treat me. Treat me. Kyle Jordan, let's do it again and we just keep going.
But it's a super popular treatment. I love it. Like I said, I've done myself. I was one of those people go back to that story.
So I was, I had put on, you know, decent amount of weight and I had that big belly. I remember a super embarrassed, you know, when we did the training for cool sculpting and you had to kind of look at, you know, you had to take your shirt off and I was with the girls I worked with at the office and take my belly pictures and I think that's anything was really the catalyst for me to change some lifestyle changes and not be such a fan of the golden arches and some not so great food. But I remember looking at those after pictures and I really couldn't, you couldn't pinch my fat, you know, because I had so much of a surreal fat or fat underneath the muscle that was just making my belly big. So at that point, I told myself, you know, I really want to do cool something, but it would not be good.
And I tell clients that I've had clients that I'm very honest. I'm never going to tell a client in Jordan's never going to tell a client we can treat them as we can really get the results. But I told myself, you know, don't don't do the cycles yet. I lose some weight.
So I lost about 40 pounds. I would say I think I've lost in total and then I was able to treat myself. I can squeeze my subcutaneous fat now on my belly because I've lost that visceral fat and feel that subcutaneous fat. And so I was able to treat myself and I've had other clients who were like that.
I said, you know what, I'd love to do the school sculpting treatment for you. I think it'll be great. But right now, I think we need some lifestyle changes first. Once we get some of this weight off, we'll be able to treat you a little bit easier and better and better results.
So I'm not afraid to tell a client that Jordan's not afraid to tell a client that it's just it's part of the integrity with everything that we do at the office. I make sure that every all the work that we do is full of integrity and that we steer clients in the right direction. But it's that's what we do it. And then once it was the way they do the cool stuff and everything's great.
And we go about the plan then, you know, but hey, I was one of those people. I tell people my story. I've also treated my chest. Yes, and then we can we can treat the medical term of gynochomastia or the man chest.
Was that an amazing treatment? Yeah, I was very happy with the results. The treatment itself was not pleasure central. It the when the applicator came off.
It was intense. You know that massage was intense, but I just told myself it's going to be worth it. And it was awesome. I can't wait to do another round here.
Hopefully soon to treat myself again. I'm very happy with that reduction I had in my chest. And that was just one of the areas where I didn't lose some of that fat with the weight loss, but it's another area. Other areas we treat.
I mean, man, in or out of thighs love handles the banana roll or the little fat head you can get underneath the butt, but you have to be very careful when doing that area making sure you have a distinct banana roll. Otherwise the butt can kind of. Drop, which nobody wants that to happen. The arms are really popular.
We get some. I just that was the one client. It's an amazing arm results. The abdomen is obvious there.
The love handles are the flanks. We can treat the bra fat, little fat pads with the bra under the chin. We do some off label stuff as well with the cool sculpting and we get some really good good results. I've already said it in her time and stuff, but we have all kinds of applicators, all kinds of areas that we can treat.
You know, the biggest thing I tell clients is make sure you're going to an office that they've been trained by by the by allergen or Zeltique at the time through cool sculpting university. Make sure they have genuine machines. There's a little there's knock off stuff there guys that there are. There was one local here in town that I knew of that was around and I you don't know what's going to happen to you if you if you get on those machines.
They're not FDA clear. They have not been proven safe and effective. They're not the same technology. You know, Zeltique is backed by that there's all kinds of clinical or we call white papers that show that cool sculpting works cryolypolysis.
I mean the idea behind it came from some Harvard researchers a long time ago. I think it was Harvard who noticed that kids were having these weird dents on the inside of their cheek. They're calling it popsicle pinculitis. They were getting reduction of the fat pad that you coastal fat had for me popsicles.
It was freezing the fat pad inside their mouth. And so these scientists were like, oh my God, you know, the fat is that. Fat fat cells are dying in the fat pad from popsicles from freezing. So hey, let's start researching this.
So they started researching it and that's what cool sculpting developed into. So there was years and years and years of research behind this cool sculpting machine that we use before it was even tested. Obviously that there were some animal studies at first and that you have to do in the US and the countries before it was used on humans for its FDA clearance. And then it got its FDA clearance.
But you know, the machine needs to say cool sculpting absolutely needs to be a cool sculpting machine. If you're getting cryolypolysis treatment or cool sculpting, do not you know, oh, we can do it cheaper because we got this one from a lot of the times they buy from eBay. They buy them from who knows where they're buying their supplies from Amazon or who knows, you know, nothing against Amazon. I'm the biggest Amazon shopper there is, but it is not a place to be getting your medical treatment supplies from for a treatment for a cool sculpting or cryolypolysis treatment like this.
So make sure you're going to a legitimate place. You want to go to coolsculpting.com, make sure that the provider that you're going to is listed on that site. That's another thing to look for. I'm now with cool sculpting as well.
You can earn brilliant distinctions points. You can get some reward points for your cool sculpting treatment and use that towards money back off a future cool sculpting treatments that you're going to do. But you know, it's an amazing treatment. You get great results.
It can kind of help be that catalyst or a lot of the times we're just treating those. Those tough to tree areas, those areas that don't respond to diet and exercise. Like I said, this is not a weight loss treatment. It's it is about a sculpting.
It's an alternative to those who don't want to go under the knife and have that massive downtime from liposuction. Is it a is it a cheap treatment? No, it's expensive. But any good quality well done treatment should not be cheap.
Do not go out there and look for the cheapest cool sculpting treatment you can get. You know, again, it kind of relates to the same thing when I talk about injections. You're going to go find the cheapest injector or the cheapest cardiac surgeon to do your surgery. No, go to the best and sometimes you're going to pay a little bit for that best.
But that's okay because you're investing in yourself and you're worth it as a person. You know, at the office at office, it just try to stick something with financing off. You know, options we take care of credit. We have a couple other ones as well.
You get up to 18 months, 0% APR. So look for offices that have that available, if that's something you want to do or you can use a major credit card, you know, whatever you want to do. But you know, it's worth it though and you're worth it. It's going to make you feel better.
You're going to look great. It's going to help give you that little bit of everything. You know, make you feel a little more confident with what you're wearing. You can wear that little dress or for me.
It was the swimsuit and not feel a little more self-conscious about that or my chest. I felt like I could go out in the summer, go to the pool and not have that, you know, larger area in my chest. I'm very happy with what I had working on doing my own chin next. You know, but it's an amazing treatment.
I love it. You know, visit our website, Detroit medspy.com. We have more information with our cool sculpting on there. Look at our before and after pictures.
