Episode 086 -- Prohibition 1: true tales of Capone's Chicago, the term Red Light, and the Slaven Prohibition beer recipe
from Twin Terrors Macabre Manor of Mead Metal and Mayhem · host twinterrorsheavymetal
Welcome back to the manor! Today we're discussing prohibition, that failed attempt to make life suck. Why did this come up? Between Jody mentioning James' family's prohibition beer in a previously recorded episode (that hasn't come out yet, but will soon) and James having just read a book about bootleggers and brothels, it had to be done. In this episode, James shared true stories of Chicago during Capone, from his maternal grandparents that were there during that era. We also give the definitive answer as to where the term "red light" comes from in regards to prostitutes and James gives (more or less) the recipe to his family's prohibition beer recipe. If you want the whole recipe, let us know. Maybe we can do a Patreon thing.
