Episode 1 "We Will Stand Up"_Module 2.4

from Indigenizing Education for a Better World Hosted by Kiely RUssell

Do property rights matter more than human rights in Canada? After watching Cree filmmaker Tasha Hubbard's "We We Stand Up" (2019), I learn about discrimination in the Canadian legal and judicial system. While watching this documentary it is evident that colonial laws do not protect Indigenous Peoples. The media scrutiny about the discriminatory legal and judicial practices in Canada come to light after Colton Boushie's trial and expose the racism that persists in Canada today. Indigenous human rights continue to be violated and politicians listen but do not make any commitment to change. Join me as I review and comment on this documentary and grapple with the question..."where do we go from here?"
