Episode 1: Why The Second Sex Still Matters

In this episode, we introduce the purpose of the podcast—an accessible, thoughtful exploration of The Second Sex and its relevance today. We focus on the Introduction and Translators’ Note (up to page 21), highlighting Beauvoir’s central idea of woman as “the Other,” her existentialist framework, and the philosophical, linguistic, and cultural challenges involved in translating her work into English. Join us as we set the foundation for understanding one ofthe most important feminist texts of the 20th century.
