So like a week ago I think like last Wednesday. I got my first vaccine shot. I'm a Pfizer boy now. Hey, someone was wondering.
Yeah, hashtag Pfizer boy Fuck those Moderna or the Johnson Johnson folks, especially the Johnson Johnson folks all my homies hate Johnson Johnson folks anyway anyways the people running at where national guardsman like reservists army types I guess and It was weird because I haven't really been around any military people since I got out like almost three years ago now They got even weirder because they asked me what my insurance was and I said VA and And the I don't know what ranks you I can't read army ranks. I don't care enough to learn that I don't know probably Fair she just looked at me like this dude is not in the military. He's feeling fucking valor I didn't hope that like she asked if about drug use. I don't know why I said obviously I said yes I'm cool, you know, I don't know if it's like jealousy like oh this bitch got out and he's taking drugs all the time I don't know What do you do?
Have you seen Rambo? Yeah, long hair. Cooler shit probably the drugs with me. Just want to show it.
Yeah And you fucked up all those military people to the came out from you're basically Rambo. Yeah, they drew first Whenever I see military people what doesn't really happen here right like there's a different culture like military culture here and there Like American super pro veteran so like I think someone put a service here I just took a dickhead but I've been out in the face here and I thought anyone in uniform Especially and they're working up for me not fucking you're not fooling anyone if you're out in your working to form out and about You're a bitch. Sorry. Someone had to say you just want attention especially like in planes.
I would try in your working form Don't be stupid find your dress either I see this one time. Yeah, and it's easier course on your dress Comic-Con and that's how cops here like three days ago. We just haven't found and then it was like this adorable cop No one to go up to them and thank them for the service. I guess that's just not a thing Yeah, it's been a I don't know since I got the vaccine my internet and cellular services been way better I don't know what that's up with but thanks Billy's You think you got the vaccine and the 5G shit.
I don't know I mean they didn't tell me anything but I think maybe I don't know just sort of just kind of circumstantial evidence Isn't I just noticed that I going through tunnels and stuff my my phone stays connected better You know like not trusting the government but also not wanting to take the vaccine because it's not regulated by the FBA Yeah, I don't know there's certain things that like I'm not saying like that down to the government But there's certain things where you have to like go with the flow, you know, that makes sense like I don't know the vaccine I don't know much about the process, right? I know a thing or two but from what I've read like it normally takes like 10 to 12 years because there's like Again, who's you got to jump through and patent and all of this other shit? And if they didn't have to go with anything to avoid now take as long as quick I should say I can't get the pandemic back well the one thing that helps is that COVID is COVID was already like not when I was like over 19, but like the pre there's previous editions of COVID I guess and They were already aware of it. So they already had it wasn't like a new vaccine They had a creator anything they were starting from scratch.
It's about trying to say yeah And we talked about this forever. This is basically the COVID part. Oh, yeah Maybe you know, I don't know if it's not really thing here, but why is it so bad to call it the China virus Like not being a time before you're just like genuinely curious or even the Wuhan virus You know because it from my understanding it originated there I know when people say Spanish we like Spanish who wasn't necessarily originated in Spain. So I get that yeah I know bad or racist because it did originate and we're getting caught on it Well, one I think it's kind of inaccurate like well, it's true We did originate from Wuhan, but it wasn't oh They they they tried to a lot of the cases of like where the people got sick from particularly on the east coast and a lot of the East Coast COVID was actually from Europe like the specific strain that is in Europe right now like originated from there Obviously it did come out of Wuhan But it's not necessarily accurate.
I mean I don't really care what you call it I don't really give a shit about stuff like that But I think the the biggest criticism you'll see towards it is that it encourages like anti-Asian I don't but I really don't care. It's like trying to buy was called the Wuhan virus the Wuhan flu Yeah, I don't know Yeah Yeah Well someone asked me I say he him but like I don't introduce myself like I'm hey Connor I'm Connor and I use he and pronoun like someone asked me sure, but I really don't care That would be weird I would even bother with him anymore I think that's weird Like you're being like you're using your lizard brain. You're not using your lizard brain. You're using your lizard brain That's the first thing Like if you call someone something whatever, you know, you know, like I actually identify as email or whatever I thought yeah, I'm a good or like, you know, like if someone actually like corrects you like in a normal cool way Then I get it but if you just mean Someone I tell them yeah, my phone out there.
Yeah, I don't want I'm so I should bring something that I've been thinking about it's kind of related at least like to the extent that people who say as for pronouns To people say this as well attack helicopter. It's um, I don't know if you've seen this at all Where you're at, you know, but landing knowledge So have you heard it? Have you heard people say those before? Well, you know, it's really you are we acknowledge the And it's like the average the here is none of all people And so at my universe, for example, whenever we go to lecture and before the lecture starts the professor gets acknowledgement to the original So kind of like that for yeah, exactly like that.
I'll read you my universities at least Yeah, Portland State is located on the traditional homelands of the Multnomah Calameth Clackamas, Tomwater, Watala, Bands of the Chinook, Twalton, Kalapua and many other indigenous nations of the Columbia River We acknowledge the ancestors of this place and understand that we are here because of the sacrifices forced upon them By recognizing these communities we honor their sacrifice their lives and their descendants So this kind of this kind of thing in my mind just to kind of go straight to it It's performative and I don't think it actually means anything because it doesn't have like a a Masmatory or liberatory message or like call the action with it It's it almost reads like a prayer like a Christian prayer to me of like acknowledging sin almost like a meicopa Like it's like they're almost like it's because most of the people saying this at least in my mind are just kind of upper middle class white people College educated obviously But like there's no push to like give the land back They just want to acknowledge that they're here and that they're filthy little sinful little white people who are living here now You know, it's like I don't know It's really weird like I said it reads it feels like a prayer and it feels like It's just self-congratulatory pat on the back like how like enlightened we are that we recognize that we kill people to be here, you know but Yeah, like I guess Like I understand like it's kind of cool to the origin of Christians if they're even left, you know Like that's another thing. I don't even know if the people That they're acknowledging are left like at least here We have some non-awole people left But um, yeah, they'll never be a point in time that both parties can go to and everything will be fine So like I guess it is kind of reformative because you can't really help them or pardon it exactly exactly yeah And You'll see it like I don't know we talked about this before too. I think probably back in October There was a big protest. It was more like it.
I guess it was more like a terrorist thing But it was I guess it was a protest where they um they tore down Two statues and a partner by one of Abraham Lincoln and one of Theodore Roosevelt And then they attacked the American historical society, which is like a museum Yeah, and it was done by I probably white people more than anything with a few Native Americans and like people of color I guess sprinkled in there And I think I brought this point up to you. I can't really remember but like this whole concept of like land giving land back as a reparation I don't really understand Because it's completely divorced from I think material reality of like yeah So like and I'm relatively undersized like I'm sympathetic towards their movement and everything I just don't understand how it really plays into anything meaningful or like anything that can change anything That makes sense because say they want to say we kick all these people off all these white people out of port linder Whatever, you know out of Oregon. They're like where where do these people go then? You know like I I didn't choose to be born here.
I don't really want to be here in America to be honest But I'm stuck here. I'm born here. I live here. This is the only home I have you know, I'm like I'm not an asshole about it You know, just I think it's just the reality.
I think any other people feel that way too, you know And I think the important thing I feel like it's almost That like a lot of this talk of like land acknowledgments and like land back movements It almost sounds like they're trying to build an ethno state of just like people of color or whatever, you know And I just really feel like it's meaningful or useful concept, you know I feel like it is alienate for people that they need to have on their side If they want to make like any movement that's about making like the world more equal and better place, you know Like I don't really feel like you have to acknowledge that more people that different groups are treated worse than others Obviously, you know, but we're all kind of in this together as like working class For people if that makes sense, you know, I'm like discriminated because you're you're a white working class person, you know You know deserve to you know deserve xy and z for you know, whatever reasons. I don't really feel like it's I don't know I feel like I'm just kind of repeating myself. It's just words really and actions speak louder than words And if you're thinking that's good with what actions can you do or what should you do like it breaks me down even more say you have a home, right? And I'm getting your own So fuck out of you and I tell you I live here now you can stay in that corner if you want and then say like three years later Three years go by I start to feel bad and I realize that what I did was extremely fucked up But I don't leave I just thank you before I do anything Yeah, yeah, exactly.
I'm not saying like the white people should stay like Well, let me let me let me just better wait a phrase that I think you know I think we're kind of intertangled to the point where it's the kind of separate us, you know Would almost kind of kill both parties if that makes sense because we live in a world that's so driven by economics and like government interests and stuff that I like it's it's a movement. I think totally divorced from material reality in my mind, but Yeah, well like One really like part is that you can You can acknowledge them. They let this is their land, but that's that's kind of we're like Almost as far as you can go because there's a I It's like I wrote a whole paper on this for my indigenous health class Yeah, there's just no No point in time you can't I'd have already came up back at a point in time. So it's almost uncomfortable and you just try to understand them or whatever Ultimately you can't understand them if you know what that's like.
So like you were saying thinking them almost feels phony But yeah Not so don't do it. And most of the time as you were saying very as well There's nothing that you even did, you know, you're just there. Yeah I found a good thread on this on reddit and there's a few comments that I'd like to read on here that I feel like kind of Some up better than I can so this one is pretty short the guy writes Decolonial rhetoric is completely ineffective because most people haven't made the same assumptions as people who push it in our case academia and like anarchist groups Decolonial pressures assume that everyone feels the same about clone or feels the same guilt of colonialism as they do Which isn't true for most people even those whose ancestors engaged in it How is a decolonalist going to convince someone who says I've done nothing wrong? There's no good counter argument for that the best case scenario is that reinforces the biases of the people arguing which means that nothing is resolved and we're no closer to unity Exactly.
Nothing is resolved and we're no closer to unity. I completely Yeah, I think you know, I acknowledging what people went through was fine, but Like acknowledge it and then move forward. I guess like I mean again. I feel like most of this was being pushed by white people frankly Who mean well, but obviously I don't know because white people aren't really like I kind of in a complicated spot right now where They we kind of carry like this original sin on us Especially in America and I probably to Australia to an extent.
I'm not sure I can only speak for America where like Our kind of success is built on it, you know, but we don't want we don't want to give that position up But at the same time we don't like feeling guilty about it. So we have to kind of turn to these performative things As a way of like seeing we're not total pieces of shit about it at the same time. Like I don't want to we don't want to give anything up that makes Our light comfortable, you know, and that's exactly it man. I want to give up the thought Can I please summarize that for?
I got one more point to bring up for this real quick if you don't mind Another comment that I think is interesting The guy writes this whole move the whole movement is historically literate the first humans to claim any land anywhere once we gather as Cultural ties and names we have totally forgotten there there were then waves of migration of distinct cultures We've also forgotten it's all dependent on contemporary power dynamics as to which cultural group are accorded legitimate ownership But any acknowledgement is explicitly artificial and should be recognized as such it It could still be a tool of decolonization efforts. I think then but only on the understanding that it is a practice meaning It's like a way of Of action, I guess and not academia. I used to be an academia But left largely disillusioned it seemed far more it seems far more politically aware than 10 years ago Which is great, but it's hard to understand from the outside the aims or purpose of academic decolonization are No one of those arguing for that when I when I left academic circles It was more it was to teach more social justice not to remove knowledge but to add to it And so I guess the main point that I want to kind of focus on is That history moves so much and that we've forgotten so much that it's arbitrary to say who's lameness is at a certain point You know like the people were talking about the people who most recently had it, you know And I think that kind of I kind of deflates the whole thing because when you put it into a wider perspective I mean obviously it was a tragedy right what happened, you know, like I mean I don't like saying human suffering regardless of who What happened or who happened to? But I think like on the importance of this I think it kind of deflates it if that makes sense Like specifically of like the the white decolonization movement, but You know we some that are very quickly, you know, we're what like 10 minutes probably you know, I have no con 15 minutes or so Welcome to the 10th episode of the low response.
It is good Friday, you know, Australia To be honest, I didn't know it was your Friday until I was in bacon and I was called him and go hell before they do it. Oh shit It's good Friday and so that's my morning so far. How about you? Um Yeah, I woke up.
I've uh I played halo for most of the day and then I Started doing some homework and then we decided to record and I'm hearing I mean I made this on I didn't feel that you know, no, no, no But they're not anyone's religious beliefs. But I'll do you I'll do me. I made this candy bacon And you know, I was pretty proud of it myself. I um, I make them bacon and so you cook it right you put it in the pan You cook it and you make a tiny crispy or not You want it.
I like you crispy and then you drain off that and then once you have you keep your bacon up in You sprinkle some brown sugar on it and like you generate some brown sugar And you get your maple syrup on it. I like those are also under the most like like a little bite You put the brush on it and you just kind of cook it and then um after that you take them out you'll have to say it for a while Sorry hard enough. Just kiss. It was delicious.
Oh, my brother's open fire myself. Please help. Oh, yeah um I've really booked it right. I'm gonna book And I brought it up a couple episodes ago, but I do this one where I read like eight books at a time, right?
Like four if I go to the bookstore And I see a book attached to my eye. I'll just get it even though I'm not even done with the other book I'm reading it's one of my own one of my flaws. I say anyway, so it's not a bad part of half You know, I'll be reading my eight books at a time And then I finally you know sat down and I read this book and I put product for it men who hate women by lower faith And you can kind of already tell what it is based on value You know, if if you're a woman I'm not gonna recommend this book to you because like you know what like you live your life as a woman Like you know the shit that you go. Well as a man You don't really know or you don't really have an idea or Kind of like a one woman say, you know, and this is just like a super general example But when women say things like man are trash and they may be talking about like a dude that she's known them or whatever and then Um, you have that guy that will go not all men Obviously not all men, but why did you feel compelled to say that?
You know like what would it that hurt you so much that you just have to get your opinion in like oh, yeah, those dudes Talk about I don't so you can't say that all dudes. I was like, yeah obviously Well, I think on the other end I've said stuff on the similar thing like if I hit on a girl and a barn I get rejected I go back to the boys and I'm like jigsaw or something like that, you know, I don't know I mean like I don't know You're talking about it's like in the moment, you know, but it's not like you were like singling out like a whole Women like you're not singing at all been Yeah, yeah, I don't know I've kind of like desensitize myself to that language where if I see some you know Shake with like bipolar disorder or whatever which most women on the internet 100 have bipolar disorder Sorry folks calling it right now. Um and they say men suck or something Um, yeah, I just know they're talking to like a specific experience They've had you know, I don't take it personally, but maybe some do sorry. I'll keep going And you shouldn't have to though like you should have to take it personally.
No, I think you just let people say what their feeling like don't think it's so personal And so you know, I really like this book and I just wanted to kind of share it with people something to give Kind of like a brief summary. I highly recommend reading it and you find it especially with your guy, you know, especially with your guy I recommend reading it And you know, you can argue whatever you can say that there isn't any quality That on not all men hate women or I can't really think of any arguments That's why you shouldn't read it But if you think that there's an argument to why you shouldn't read it I think that's more of a problem on your behalf and with that out of the way the summary is This is By or base. Um, I might read another book It's really like a way that you write it's really easy to just kind of draw you in like this one of those books where like I picked it up And you know, next thing I knew I was like 50 pages deep and I was like, oh, man, I gotta go so you could make my And um, so have you heard of the word in so? Oh, yeah, of course Yeah, and so for those of you know, for like our four listeners, we don't know what intros are Back in the 90s.
There was this woman in Canada named Elana. She made this website that was Alana's involuntary cell of the secret And you know, there's a woman that didn't have any luck with her romantic life And she was helping and then you know, it's time with I see on obviously she had like boyfriends here and there And initially the website was kind of like a unionizing is like a thing that drew people together, you know, it was a happy Like yeah, like we're all so did but it wasn't a bad thing And so she dropped the website and so later on what these people men started praying to them as insults And so that work comes back from the Alana's involuntary cell And basically like they're these dudes that hate women they blame women They live in a system in which they are oppressed right? They see women as the true and negative and it really just goes down to sex, you know, a lot of these a lot of times these dudes are virgins and they're angry at the fact and this is most of their motivation at all sex, babe Right and so on That the world the system that they live in, you know, it's nothing is their fault Everything is women's fault women dictate who gets the half second who doesn't it so they hold the power That's how they see it and you know, like reading this or even now as I'm thinking anything like wow, you know, like I feel bad for these people Like how do you think like that like what's wrong with them? And you may think that their harmless note or just like you know like virgins on internet But there's they're everywhere and they're not and they're a big group, you know, like Nathan I think to Nathan Nathan Larson He was a congressional candidate, right?
Corvirginia and he was big on one of these insulplums like the website was called insul lockers And it was taken down in 2019 and he defined himself as a rape So within the insul community, you know, they have their own native language They're like the rape show you can come in for what he means without that I'm not gonna go into it any further, but he would write essays on like how to cite yourself up to see when titled so rape and When you know like the when he thought that happens in both and they called not only he said People are tired of political correctness and being constrained by it and he was a big advocate for like the killing that like Like visit the violence against women act and he on new women as property and you know, you just think like That's they could go even higher than that like this people are congressional candidate and this is how we felt they're actually everywhere and What do you think like have you heard or read or like I'm sure you've seen them on news and maybe yeah But it means kind of like anything plus or the thing like people don't really know what it is But they see and people as a bathroom. Yeah, I've got a lot of stuff to say on this actually Um, so just come on say it. I think by definition I could technically be classified as an insult But I do not see myself as an insult. I just see myself as a guy who does not get laid regularly I think it's two different things.
Um Like I'm 25. I've had less than three sexual partners and I haven't been in a relationship in a few years Um, we're not only about trying to get just continue. Just continue. No, I'm not well I recognize that it's a problem that's both personal but then structural at the same time if that makes sense Like I think anyone could get laid if they try hard enough Um, but I think what people I think more over than anything is searching for some sort of meaning or peeper connection Um And while you're talking I was trying to figure out the two things I blame for kind of creating this problem Because it is a modern problem, you know, like there wasn't insoles really before the really before the 20th 21st century and you know the late 20th century the 80s 90s and obviously today um, I think there's two main things and I blame Economics and kind of an extension feminism, but not like I don't think feminism was a bad thing If that makes sense.
I guess I'll try to explain that earlier and three dating apps and technology and I guess the internet You just classify them the last point is the internet Um, so like following world war two Really the 60s 70s, um, you know feminism sprung up women the women's rights movement women started working women were introduced In the workplace more which gave them independence, you know, which I'm not I'm saying is a good thing Um, but I think there was kind of an unintended consequence of that that men's role has became lessons like women weren't so attached to finding a man for their You know, they were independent on their own itself to self-sufficient Um, and so it's kind of a combination of economics and feminism in my mind at least Um, and I think the internet has made this take it and then just blown it up at a proportion I think because really what's happened now is that Because of the internet like when so when I was growing up as a kid, um, you know I remember watching movies or like hearing about people growing up in the 70s 80s even into the 90s Of like people in high school or young adults, they would go to like football games Even though they didn't care about the team, you know, or they would go to bars or other kind of social gatherings where people would just hang out But wouldn't really have like a goal or anything to be there. They would just be there to be around people, you know There's less and less of that. I think as years go by and in growing up during corona There's none of that obviously because everything shut down and so more people spend their time online playing video games And so kind of in response to that well at least men at least men spend a lot of their time online playing video games um, specifically the in the in-sail community Um, and so in response to that dating apps are a thing now, you know, tinder, bumble hinge I don't know what else, you know millions of them at this point Um And so it's kind of shifted like the dating dynamic So far towards women that women kind of hold all the power right because you go through tinder and you can Like so you're a bar, right? Say you're a woman you're trying to get laid sometimes you might just settle for a guy like he's around he's not bad He's not good looking but he's not bad looking either and he seems nice enough.
I'm not getting like great advice Or go home with him or take him up or whatever, you know With tinder and all those apps there's really no reason for a woman to settle that makes sense Um women could keep swiping over and over again until they find like mr. Perfect and then go out with mr Perfect there is no need to settle for average looking guys and now that women are more self-sufficient as well um They they have less of an economic need to get married or hook up with a guy that they that might be financially stable But not like mister right in their mind They can really hold out the person they need because they have unlimited options essentially and economic freedom to not have to worry about getting married early on And so now and I guess grouping grouping myself into this there's kind of this lost generation of men who aren't or are kind of stuck in limbo of they're not Like i'm not i'm a lot like I have an apartment and I pay my rent i'm not broke, you know Um, but i'm also not super rich and i'm not incredibly good looking either i'm not super charismatic at least Um going up to strangers, you know, like I can't talk to women on the street and immediately, you know like do you like pick up artists? You know that's not kind of my personality. It's not who I am And so men you know deal with this in different ways for me I'm more just I guess it's just an acceptance and knowing that like i'm not like I know that I'm a valuable person and that I'm not like an capable of finding love.
It's just a difficult time to you know Other men Kind of become toxic about it and they they push their rage and word towards themselves and then outward towards everyone else So anything by the end of the day most and so take themselves more than they hate women I think that's important thing. It all kind of stems from depression and self-loathing and that they can't solve anything And so they they blame women for it. I don't know does that help that makes sense. I don't know Yeah, definitely but they do you know they like the book says that 90% of them have like a speed of speed that like no matter What they do and what they try to change like they'll be like forever stuck in the system where they can't move forward Like that anger kind of projects outwards into women and you know sometimes it manifests itself physically sometimes Yeah, and again, it's not women's fault like I said, I think feminism is a good thing I think like women liberation is a good thing I think there's just been unintended consequences of it that at the time you couldn't see obviously And obviously they couldn't predict the internet and how that would turn out either So I think it goes back to You know, kind of like how we were saying Losing your small at the top and ultimately, you know, like for men Um, that's what it is.
You know, like they're losing their spot at the top and it's not a bad thing What's whatever at all, you know women are not property you should not view women as property Because there are people too. It's just like you would just like me or like I think it's kind of annoying for example when um as men you can't sympathize for women until you have a daughter Right or you'd be like, oh, well, I wouldn't like it if someone did that to my daughter or whatever But like are you telling me that you couldn't empathize enough to see why it was about being like what someone did that to you? You know, so about things um And you know, I don't have much to say about anything or what not, you know, like I could just say, you know, like For the work on yourself or whatever, you know, like worry about you to be constantly and feel your soul See it and eventually like you know, attract to your success or anything, but you know, maybe it doesn't always work for everyone because what's going to happen Or they just become defeated and angry but um Yeah, you know, like I got one thing to oh, sorry. Yeah, I'm sorry.
I'm just So like going back to women essentially being able to choose for mr. Right whenever they want, you know, even if I'm trying to phrase this I guess I'll just come on say it a woman who is much uglier can hold out longer for a guy who's better Looking than her, you know, and like the dating market and then do the same thing too because why is so Hypothetically say I'm like one of the angry in cells or whatever, you know, um I Few myself better than women and so why would I want to settle for an uglier woman or a perceived uglier woman? Then like I could hold out for you know, like just a super attractive, you know, eight or a nine or something like that, you know Why would I want to settle on I um lesser like a not as attractive woman, you know because like pornography and Like the media has kind of warped our perceptions both ways of what like attracted is and what sexuality is And so both both sides. I think both men and women are have like a skewed perception of attractiveness and what what the average man looks like, you know Um, no, yeah, definitely um I'm sure it'll come back I can't think about it.
But um, yeah, basically it comes down so you know like these dudes are angry because um because women have sex So because women have sex, you know, they view them as Hors, you know, a lot of bases where it's not mine. Don't come at me But they view them by Hors, right? And so the problem is that they have sex So they're forced because they have sex but they're villains because they don't have sex with him So it's it's kind of like it's a very dumb. It's a very hypocritical In a way, it's even childish, you know It's just and you think you know, you can't imagine how people like to suggest but they do and they're everywhere and now i'm just gonna give off some examples that I thought were interesting and In May 23rd 2014 Elliot brouger Uh went to the university of California Santa Barbara and just started shooting females telling too and they were Katherine Breanne Cooper and Veronica Elizabeth Weiss and in his men's besto um he claimed that this was Retribution it's the retribution against women for not choosing him who was perfect gentlemen So imagine this he just killed two people, but he's not a bad guy.
He is the perfect gentleman like this is this guy's like point of view and At the time they called him a disturbed man Right and they disregarded or ignored like his autistic motives like they ignored all that and they just said he was Disturbed and it's interesting to think that they ignored it like basically this was this whole motive But they just ignored it and said he was disturbed and I think it says it makes people uncomfortable it makes men uncomfortable So why I acknowledge it's calling the syrup. Yeah It was more it was beyond that Elliot roger kind of became the unsung hero of that community And there's been there's been Edward because he praised George so Dean who was a systems analyst. He was like 48 49 And in 2009 he went to this gym turn the lights off and killed three women in his motors were that he hadn't had steps since 1990 or had a girlfriend since 1984 and so you know the lack of sex drove this guy who um You know commit murder and I think it would be interesting to kind of analyze these guys and like look into their brains The way that people are fascinated with serial killers like what makes this person act this way like What makes this person become infatuated with sex or the lack thereof that they just become violent about it And there's you know, I have a couple more examples, but I'm gonna pause here to see you know what don't hear your viewpoint on the matter um Well, one thing that you mentioned a couple minutes ago was uh Like immaturity and childishness and I think that's an important thing to kind of speak on here because men I people in america in general have been coming more infantile like we've been regressing that makes sense Like i'm 25 like I do I have all the structures of like an adult life But I don't feel like an adult what I mean I play video games all fucking day and I podcast in my free time like People might already having kids getting married buying houses, you know, not even that long ago, you know And women are kind of the same way like not even I was bad. I can't really speak to like how a woman feels right now You know, but I think many men feel like they're not living up to the standards of like what it means to be a man Like the nature of masculinity has changed, you know, like we use a lot of this Incel stuff because they're all they're not just angry at women.
They're also comparing themselves to other men too if that makes sense Um, like the like it's a meme now, but it's like the chat versus the virgin meme, you know Yeah, that that was that's an incel meme that became popularized over time, but like They they acknowledge certain aspects and like features of men that got laid more than them, you know, they try to like Defied that up essentially into two Kind of groups like alpha and beta. You see it a lot cuck. It's another one They use usually describe themselves or as an insult so like for chads It'll be like oh you only get laid because you're tall and you have a straw jaw line and you're physically fit or something like that Um, and so they kind of push all of their issues onto that like there's nothing wrong with me It's that all these women just want to you know sleep with these like gigahot five six five Chads with perfect jawlines or whatever, you know, which is not the case at all Plenty of attractive women sleep with ugly dudes all the time Just look at like any comedian ugly dude, but it has a hot ass girlfriend I Really are like that So like women sleep with like beauty is in the body of the whole two women sleep with dudes that I think are unattractive all the time But like it looks in a relationship and especially just in attraction generally it's not solely based on looks It's also a personality and the way you treat people too like the Elliot roger's guy You're just talking about not a bad looking dude at all like not ugly not to form the anyway Just very mentally I think mentally ill frankly, you know and maybe something some of it might be inherited to him Others just being like the internet has ruined people This is this all kind of revolves around the internet being bad and Changing reshaping like our brains in a way that we're not used to and that many people can acknowledge That's why like when you brought up that they they take away like the sexual frustration and sell aspect away from the mass shooting Like the media in the news because they don't they don't know how to understand it because it's such a new phenomenon if you're not I think the reason I understand is because I'm in the I'm kind of in the middle of it Like I don't participate in it, but I came up on I grew up on the internet, you know, and so I saw it come out I mean I've been aware of the incel stuff. It's like I don't 2010 2011 so I've seen it evolve over time You know when I was in the Navy I didn't think about it at all.
It wasn't like It wasn't you know, but when I when I came back and got out I'm like oh incels are still around like I just accepted that I don't get laid very often But I didn't make it apart my personality and I didn't like Yeah, I mean there's aspects of myself that I don't like that I think are holding me back and I recognize that there's structural issues too, you know Yeah, it's just a weird phenomenon. We don't know how to deal with it and there's I don't think you can solve it today I mean, I guess I don't really know what to solve frankly, but Yep, all right, so I'm gonna you know list a few more examples and then you know for distress and it's interesting, you know, because Elliot Rogers Um how old was Elliot? I think he might have been 19 maybe Yeah, he was a young man. He was 22.
Yeah, Elliot Rogers That you know, I was a kid son about her and he praised George Fedini a systems analyst You know went to the gym for those three women had an pet sex in 1990 or references 1984 that guy was like 48 It's like 48 or 49 And so he he was just you know like how the best ring and like his own You know like backwards Complicated what you're thinking and finally it drilled him to murder and you know, Elliot Rogers was 14 I mean, I'm sorry if he was 22 in 2014 You know 2009 that's five years later. He might have been like what like 17 Yeah, so he was inspired by this man and he acted upon it years later Then and then you have been going ahead and he was a teenager and the uk And he wanted to murder because he was still a virgin and he believed women to be the weaker gene Um, there was Chris Harper Mercer in 2015. There was a 26 year old student He gathered people into the room at the Amkua community college Shot eight people and told himself and in his manifesto he complained about being a virgin But the interesting thing that he said was that there will be more he said we are your sons We are your brothers. We are everywhere So that kind of you know Going back to you know, insoles aren't a thing or they're not to be taken seriously or they're not a problem or they're very small Whatever argument that you have like here he is right now.
You know, this is like a call to action Uh, Nicholas Cruz a more recent one. They're probably remembered by more people. Um, this was the the margaristel in the Douglas High School from Florida But he killed 17 people in 107 It um, sparked this whole movement that kind of became I did become an anti-glent movement But in his manifesto as well, he praised Elliot roger thinking that he would not be forgotten So um, yeah, you know, so Elliot roger kind of started distinct like I said earlier He came to the computer on this community and inspired more people Act out in a violent manner And he thought so would you like some more example without a few more? Um, I was reading about Elliot rogers and just on Wikipedia.
Obviously. I don't have the resources you do. Um, but there is an interesting Thing he posted. Okay.
This is this is from Wikipedia Um, he wrote his manifesto that being of mixed race. He's a white nation Asian. I believe his dad's white is mandasian Um, that being mixed race made him different from normal fully white kids on one forum He said that he opposed interracial dating and made several racist posts regarding African-american Hispanic South Asian and east Asian people stating that seeing men of these ethnic groups socializing was white women makes you want to quit life And one post roger wrote full Asian men are disgusting and white girls would never go for you You're just but hurt that you were born as an Asian piece of shit And so you lash out by linking these fake pictures even mid that you wish you were half white You'll never be half white and you'll never fulfill your dream of marrying a white woman. I suggest you jump off a bridge But are these his words or did someone say that to him?
I kind of I'm kind of lost that there In one online post he wrote this doesn't say what forum but he wrote this is what he wrote himself Oh, yeah. Yeah. So it's such a sort of lore face actually. Um, you know, she uh I'm just gonna like like a by words.
He catfish people right? She pretended to be this dude Alex on instal forums and You know, sometimes these guys maybe kind of like a brother her community, you know, like helping each other out But sometimes we'll put each other down and really fuck away kind of like the thing that you just read Yes, but I'm not I'm not right. Yeah. Um There's a youtuber who Kind of I mean kind of explain to me why the whole incel thing is stupid named contra points I don't know if you've ever watched any of her videos.
She's a trans woman. Um, so she was a man became a woman and um She did a video on incels like a video essay. It's like 30 minutes long or so and she brought up that When she was transitioning from a mandal woman She used to go on trans women forums and like post pictures of herself and she got put down in a similar way that Insels put each other down like um, she would post a picture of like, I don't know For doing makeup run herself for the first time and then they'll say oh, you'll never be um, you'll never be a woman Stuff like that everyone know you're a dude. You just kill yourself right now.
You'll never be happy, you know Yeah, if you're projecting like your own Autism and People yeah, yeah, that's that's one thing when you when you put someone down on the internet because you don't know them You're projecting what you think that person is and so you're really just yelling at your own thought like you're out Ultimately when you cut to the chase when you're yelling at someone anonymously online You're really just yelling at yourself Because you create that manifestation or that personification of that online account or whatever, you know You don't know that person. You just reading the snapshot of their words, you know, you fill in the rest of it So that that creep that what you're yelling at is more of a creation of your own mind than yourself or than the other person that is Yeah Yeah, I don't know. Um, it's I mean, I've seen so in terms of solutions. I've seen some pretty radical ones from both sides of like um From the in cells.
I've seen stuff like men should have uh state mandated girlfriends, which has become kind of a joke now Um from more sympathetic women especially. I've seen things like um Legalized sex work so men can get laid more easily, you know, um, you know, that Sorry, but that's uh one of the arguments also because of like prostitution is illegal in the states So like these men can't believe their frustrations or whatever then they shouldn't get punished for rape Or a rate should be seen as a consequence of the government family and it's uh, it's like more entitlement, you know, it's more Pushing shifting the blame shifting the problem outward. Yeah, instead of Well, it's it's tough because like They're they're entitled to something but it's not what they think they're entitled to like they're not entitled to sex But I think they are entitled to to love and to a companionship like that's something that humans need I'm not saying you have to like just the feeling of it like as a human being you need that right Like I'm not saying they should be mandated a girlfriend or something It needs to be consensual, but I think that they're right to I don't know I think maybe I worded it wrong, but like it is a necessary human need to have those feelings that have have like reciprocated love In affection, you know, so like they're not I don't know maybe wording as entitled isn't the right way But it is something that all humans need and when you when you don't have it it fucks with your brain chemistry, you know And then because the internet you get a snapshot that's skewed of what reality is And so you get I don't know I'm just kind of repeating myself. I guess but it all just it's all just a negative feedback loop Yep There are some more examples that I thought on On April 23rd, 2018, 25 year old Alec Manassian, I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right You can look him up if you like let me know what you think of this guy just by looking at it So it's Alec like Alex with a K, Manassian 25 He drove through a rental van in Toronto filling 10 people and injuring 16 Most of his victims were female but the interesting thing about him was his manifesto as well He said private recruitment asking wishing to speak to Sergeant Ford Chan the insular balian has already begun and he considered himself a supreme gentleman again, you know going back to Elliot Rogers um And in 2019 27 year old Christopher Cleary was arrested in Denver Colorado as he planted several merchant one of his marches that were in the area And the reason being that you know, he was a virgin and again, this was his retribution So this is like retribution is a common theme amongst all these guys all these men, you know a retribution for not having sex for being virgins um And I'm just thinking I'm just thinking now about how he said that I get a message with your brain chemistry um Yeah, do you have any thoughts on this rebellion or did obviously Elliot Roger kind of come to turn it outside He was the guy and then and what else sort of went back to him and so you have a Chris Harper Mercer in 2015 who said you know, we got your sons.
We're your brothers. We are everywhere. They will be more Uh, you have 25 year old elegant s and referring on so kind of like in a military manner in the insular balian has already begun Yeah, what do you think? Um, well once so the insular movement of like 10 years ago Is a lot different than the insular movement of today and it's becoming more linked to like far right wing politics Um, and I think a lot of insels and a lot of like who become right wingers create like this, um ideal Kind of return to tradition.
So like you've heard like the term trad cast before No traditional catholic and so they they worship like this kind of ideal of like white Family values basically where they want a woman basically to return to like pre feminist days And so I think that's been like linked into Like right wing politics now like instels. I've kind of like become a part of right wing policy far right like Like neo-nazi groups a lot a lot of insels end up joining those groups at the same time because they offer kind of a way out And they they offer kind of a more articulated even though it's incorrect in my mind. It has more Intellectual backing I think then like I hate women fuck women, you know, it offers an answer, you know So you see many insels kind of turning like expanding their hate not just towards women But sort of other like say different ethnic groups or political groups, you know Um And that they they find that if women aren't this kind of perfect ideal this traditional catholic um, wife who dresses, um Doesn't doesn't what's the word dresses? Not normally, but like um not not pre-broccoli, you know She wears like long dresses and like skirts that don't go past the knee, you know that kind of thing doesn't show off like Very modest dress.
I guess is what they kind of fantasize, you know, they think that women who you know dress Like I guess sluttier in their mind are impure, you know, maintained it and so they kind of It almost becomes like I'm better than you because I you dress like a slut and so it'd be like a waste for me to sleep on you You know, I I only want to sleep with traditional catholic girls who value like modesty and traditional values and stuff like that Yeah Interesting that you said, you know that I don't They lean forward like these right wing groups that they're uh, but what would you say that they're like more uh, like um and formed or educated or it articulates a worldview that's a lot more Has a lot more backing intellectually than I think other like because insels well, they're not dumb but they're not Intellectuals either, you know Like you said it articulates better. So that's like it's down better. Yeah, they can latch on to it more There's more investment You know not actually or like pseudo sciences and yeah, so like we'll think that they're sounding intellectually they think that what they're saying makes sense But it's not actually you know, it's not rooted in any actual science and I don't in a way I blame Algorithms like internet algorithms because I'm saying like you're like a young man like a young person who's man you on youtube And then it's very easy to fall down a rabbit hole So, you know watch a video that'll recommend like another similar video to you What's one then recommend another similar video and then you know by the end of it You're like you're down this rabbit hole and you pretty much become indoctrinated And I want to say by no means of your own because you have to willingly, you know, like watch the videos like the video or whatever But they didn't actively look for the videos. Yeah, what's next?
No, youtube is notorious for doing this specifically towards right wing media in my opinion Um, like I'm a left winger just for context and I still get recommended Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson I got um recommended in a real Israeli defense force video the other day I was like why would I would I don't care why would I ever want to watch this? But if you don't have like a solidified worldview and you see These like so I think the big three especially about a couple years ago was Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson and Stephen Mullen And I think Stephen Mullen it was the most toxic at all these because he has white supremacy used but at the same time he also has a lot of um Like anti-women views simultaneously And uh, it was Thank you guys. Sorry, Stephen Mullen. It's french.
So it's you know, it's all so weird Um, and so he does a lot of videos on like race and gender science as well as like far right politics in general And so like you they've had people on the left have identified this as like a far right rabbit hole Where say you watch? I don't know you watch something on trump right like the news on trump like cnn I don't know and then from there you get recommended up entry puro video And then it just gets you keep going down different layers of hell basically And so you get to see the maulinu But you get indoctrinated on along the way and you kind of built there's a community built around it Like you might start going to forums or participate more in like the comment section And then you go further and further down the rabbit hole and so you're literally talking to like race sciences nazi types, you know You go through ben Shapiro who I think is still a piece of shit, but not he's racist but not in like a scientific kind of way, you know I didn't know the other guy that you mentioned but I know ben Shapiro because he inspired like he was They called him up by a name the guy that did that complexity monst shooting So, you know like I don't know what the other guy you mentioned like what he has to his plane But ben Shapiro was definitely like named as an inspiration player. I was under Isn't it? I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing that right, but yeah, the guy the the monster shooter in canada I pronounced the guy's name wrong.
It's staphon maulinu not Stephen maulinu So just like his wikipedia page Uh, oh, yeah Oh, yeah, maulinu is known for his promotion of white supremacist views and conspiracy theories He's proponent of the white genocide conspiracy theory, which is directly tied to incel as well like they're convinced that That's the deep state or whatever is trying to wipe out white people This guy is 54 maulinu And from paint paper I used to flitter sample I provided in case these policies like you know like I tried to imagine like How like just having that was like hate and contempt within you as a person And he's a well-educated guy like he was at York University, Mcgill University, University of And yeah, you know like this what happens and when you know like you watch a video you just talk to other people But I think the algorithm is definitely annoying to you to know like you sometimes I'll get recommended stuff But um because I watch another video, but I've watched the other video just to shit on it, you know, just to judge it like But you two think I'm interested now more using emotional I think you know like algorithms obviously while it doesn't work Yeah, it's a pipeline like it's I don't know if it's attentional or not. I mean I feel like it kind of is but um There's many left like now people on the left that were On the alt-right that say they got started on the alt-right because they started they watched one too many youtube videos basically You know either you start a bench appear or someone kind of tame and then um You know just gets worse and worse over time And not to talk about myself anymore, but I'm surprised I didn't go down this more Um because I came up right in the center of it and I sometimes I had these lots too, but I was kind of like These are dumb, you know, I should be along with my life, you know, but it's really surprising that I don't know how I didn't At least become like a right winger at some point in my life. I kind of skipped over that I I think because of the navy. I think I didn't join the navy I would have gone down this role as well because it came to be something to face my life around I think another thing to remember is that these guys aren't like really bad lives.
I don't say bad lives, but like Non-fulfilling lives, you know, I mean you think of the cliche of like oh, you just live in your parents basement or wherever Which is becoming true and sometimes I'm gonna fall out of their own. It's like you can't Like our futures are becoming more and more precarious, you know, we don't have the we didn't grow we didn't grow come up in the time of this great economic Push, you know prosperity and so like yeah men and women have to live at home longer, you know the kind of the promise that was given to us Through like the american dream is just apply, you know and so We're going I guess going back is like the The idea that we had of what like a man should be or what like a family or a woman should be, you know We still have that but then the reality isn't matching up to that and like our ideal hasn't caught up to reality yet and so we're still We're still like arguing with ourselves, you know about about this because The marketing material and the lived experience of people doesn't match up and until we change our perceptions of like gender and sexuality I think we're gonna be dealing with this until until it happens basically Very interesting hard for an episode What do you think about the uh episode on month format that we have kind of the meaning into I've been fine. I've been fine with it. I just been busy.
Just like I said Just going to in school and then playing video games or so. I got really nothing going on So I can record whenever, you know, I mean usually sometimes we get busy in the evenings do another stuff But I don't know it's been fine. I like it because I feel like when we were recording once a week We were just ran to shit to say I feel like with this there's some good build up and like Actually, you know about something substantial and like the coronavirus podcast, you know No, but I don't know. I mean I feel like it's a good episode Yeah, maybe not as good as our Manson episode.
I don't know. We'll let the fan decide but yeah Yeah, this was you know, I guess we were both you know more serious Yeah, I feel like in a way this was almost you interviewing me Yeah Well, yeah, you just Well, I don't know Do you think it's The question is for you now Do you think it's a cultural because obviously we grew up in two different we were both americans Obviously, but we grew up in two different worlds, you know I mean we talked about this too about how like Around white people and like white culture. It's kind of fading away like it never really existed in the first place While like immigrants and like people of color in general maintain or have those stronger cultural ties I don't know. I feel like I don't know but at the same time like Elliot Rogers is mixed and so he didn't have the I don't know.
It's just something this is an observation I don't know if it's true or not But it seems like you never had any of these problems that we went through like we as in like white men and our age group, you know Yeah, um, yeah, no, uh, yeah, I never had those problems, right? Um, I don't know if it was a culture thing Uh, maybe it was but I guess yeah, it just depends on your worldview, you know like the thing about these guys is uh You know, they were more isolated um little to no friends Yeah, maybe kind of like my friends my first friends were my family Like my friends and all that um, but yeah, I was never really isolated or alone. Um, pretty happy most of the time Um, yeah, not to do my own horn, but I think I'm you know someone effective. Um, I don't know if that's anything to do with it I think a lot of these guys have like a like a little self esteem and see themselves in a in a negative bite Yeah, I think it's the best more to um, yeah I think it is you know what a maybe physical thing togetherness thing Uh, I think just to go back to like one of my earlier points of like how young people don't really have an excuse to hang out for no reason You know, like there's no people to go to Oh, these people that I grew up with I think in cells didn't go to like football games to hang out or like hangers or there's less parties, you know People are live online more, but I think that's really a white person thing or people who've been kind of like over time being drawn into whiteness if that makes sense like you know as The more immigrants stay here, they more they adopt the culture of the places they immigrated to so what you're like a Because from what I understand from your background like your your family is still very tied to mexico, you know So you those traditions carry along very well So you basically I'm saying here's you had that secondary world to fall back to you know that that supported you and that had kind of something bigger Than yourself that you were part of I think for white people and like these insults They don't really have any of that so they turned to the internet and that's where it all went fucked In my mind is going to the internet and then live essentially living your entire life on the internet, you know, you know You know, there's no community real life community to fall back into you know that could help you and support you and provide Necessary things.
I don't know. I just need you from the hip That's a very interesting conversation very interesting topic. Um, yeah, um, definitely it's a Family extends more than your immediate family. Right.
Yeah And like you said that's one of the many differences that's one of the I guess for lack of a word say ability Like you have that when you have like a more specific family you have a More stability in your life. You have more fall back on like but yeah Do you have any Common questions or concerns as we wrap up this episode. No, um Hopefully coronavirus is over by the next time I record so we don't have to talk about anymore. Um, rather than that I really got nothing.
I'm just been chilling enjoying life I um, I recommend the book that is why I have this episode mental hate women But it will be and if you have apple tv watch cherry with a compaulin Now you may not gonna ask fireman But this is a more interesting role for him. He plays like this. This iraq veteran Who gets out and he's just playing by pkg and then he has like serious recognition. It's a good movie I was not expecting that at all I got I got a movie recommendation too It's called patterson with adam driver.
It's like an indie movie. It's on amazon prime for free if you have an amazon prime subscription Um, it's really a movie on what it means to be happy and content where you are You know, I think it's really it's a very calm but kind of I mean boring in terms of like nothing much happens It's very much like a personal journey, but it's gonna be a lot to think about me think about the past few weeks I check it out. That's so I got Yeah, and this is in april's low response. Yeah, april fool is just gay.
It's a real this is a real episode Yeah All right, you guys on else we're out. Bye folks
