from Positive Creativity Podcast · host Lauren Schaffel, Caleb Jones, Adam Michael Kaufman, Elyssa Nicole Trust, Kate Lumpkin

Kate's Website@katelumpkinThe Broadway CollectiveNoMarkingNote: We recorded this episode at the beginning of May, before the nation wide awakening and conversation around police brutality and racism towards Black Lives. In this episode we address coming out of the pandemic with a more humane and inclusive industry in a broad sense, but we recognize that it’s jarring to hear us ignore the current conversation around black identity and lives. We understand that it is impossible to have a platform about creativity within the entertainment industry without highlighting the work of black artists. As we begin season 2, we are committed to prioritizing voices within the BIPOC community.  We stand with Black Lives Matter. We commit to amplifying black voices. We commit to deep listening and learning.

We speak with Kate about the inspiration behind NoMarking, an online platform that provides free health, wellness, and business classes for working professionals in the theatre community during this time of uncertainty. She also breaks down the phrase "on the other side of the table," and brainstorms ideas about how to build a more inclusive, stronger industry coming out of this pandemic. Lots of real talk in this episode, listeners!
