Families for generations did not know there was a genetic link to lymphedema only the physical resemblance from one generation to the next. With the advances in science and technology we now know of specific gene mutations that occur in familial primary lymphedema. Vern Seneriz is a woman who wears many hats. Daughter, wife, mother, friend, lymphie, encourager, and advocate to name a few. Her and her father, Pete, shared their lymphedema journey for years thinking they were the only two living with this disease, of which they did not know the name. Her blog Lymphie Strong has since informed, encouraged, and connected people from all around the world. This is her story.
