Episode 10: The Global Food System

from Out of Order · host Ben Maher and Anthony Buono

Another week, another episode. This week, our current events largely lie in the realm of politics, where we discuss a recent special election in Wisconsin, the changing outlook of college towns, a complex dynamic in this past weekend's Spanish election, and Republican primary polling in Iowa and other early states. Besides that, we talk about the recent Kerch Strait Bridge bombing by Ukrainian forces and a horrifyingly racist story in Alabama. In our book club this week, the topic was companies. We discuss court cases that led to caps on punitive damages, restrictions on class action lawsuits, and increased support for private arbitration. In our deep dive, we talk about the global food system. This enormously complex system is the lifeblood of our already massive (and still growing) human population. We discuss how it works, where its vulnerabilities lie, and how it might be shored up with innovation and policy reform. #politics #podcast #currentevents #liberal #russia #ukraine #supremecourt #company #lawsuit #food #innovation
