from Rapid Idea Improvement · host Bart Vanderhaegen
Bruce Nielson (@bnielson01) explains the 4 strands of the Fabric of Reality by David Deutsch (@DavidDeutschOxf) The 4 strands contain our 4 deepest theories about reality: The theory of evolution - (specifically the neo-Darwinian theory of evolution / Richard Dawkins refinement of Darwinian theory of evolution): how life evolves, how we can explain how species look like and behave, and how they came to look the way they look The theory of epistemology - (specifically Karl Poppers epistemology of critical rationalism): the theory about knowledge. What it is, how is grows, how we use knowledge etc etc Quantum theory (specifically the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, or "the Everett interpretation"): about the behaviours of the smallest constituents of the physical world The theory of computation (specifically Alan Turing's theory of computational universality): the theory about what a computation really is, and what the set of all computations is that we can express in physical systems (hardware)
