She was a freelance journalist for 30 years and, in 2008, founded DriverWorks Ink publishing, which specializes in inspiring non-fiction books about Prairie people and publishes other genres connected to non-fiction stories. Deana (pronounced dee-na) has written five non-fiction books: The Sailor and the Christmas Trees - A True Story; Never Leave Your Wingman: Dionne and Graham Warner's Story of Hope; From The West to the World: The Story of Underwood McLellan/UMA Group; Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta's Inspiring Story; and Just a Bunch of Farmers: The Story of Weyburn Inland Terminal 1976-2001.
