Episode 102: Manu Ginóbili with Matthew Tynan

Jim is joined by Matthew Tynan, who has been covering the San Antonio Spurs since 2012 for a number of publications, including The Athletic, to break down the career of Manu Ginóbili and debate whether or not he should have been a 1st ballot HOFer. Jim and Matthew first describe what Manu meant to the city of San Antonio and how he may have been more beloved by Spurs fans than even Tim Duncan himself (9:52). Then, they attempt to pick out the most memorable moment of Manu's career, which proves to be almost impossible, as they choose between everything from him winning a Gold Medal in 2004 with the Argentina National Basketball Team to Manu swatting down a live bat during a game on Halloween in 2009 (16:59). Finally, they discuss why Manu only averaged 25.4 minutes per game for his career and how that impacted his career and HOF candidacy (35:33), before reaching a final verdict on whether or not they believe Ginóbili deserved to be voted into the HOF in 2022 during his first year of eligibility (54:13).
