Episode #104: Dream Wife - Recorded Backstage at the El Club in Detroit

from Fresh Is The Word · host Kelly "K-Fresh" Frazier

On this episode we are joined by the London-based pop rocking punk band Dream Wife. Recorded backstage during their Detroit tour stop at the El Club, the members of Dream Wife – Alice Go (guitar), Rakel Mjöll (vocals), and Bella Podpadec (bass) – sat down with your Fresh is the Word host K-Fresh to talk about their rise to popularity, their humble beginnings, how the band got started, the roles of women in the music industry and the discussions that need to continue, and their open call for women & non-binary artists in select cities to open their shows. The band is headed by Cailin Russo, who is the daughter of Unwritten Law’s Scott Russo. Along with Cailin Russo, the band, that only formed earlier this year, includes Tyler McCarthy on guitar, Hayley Brownell on drums and backing vocals and Sean Ritchie on bass. The band is pure fun and doesn’t take themselves too seriously with an indie pop/rock sound that is not only energetic, but funky. Russo’s EP, House with a Pool, is available now!
