En kold fredag i marts dræber landmanden Tauno fire betjente med koldt blod. Tauno var i særligt dårligt humør og kom som sædvanligt fuld hjem. Ved synet af hans søns vanter på brændeovnen, tændte han af og tog sin riffel ned fra væggen. Hans kone og søn tog en skæbnesvanger beslutning og flygtede hen til naboerne, som straks ringede efter politiet, men det skulle de aldrig have gjort.
