“There’s this magical freedom that only comes from within, and I think that the Enneagram affords you that because you get to be you and see you for who you are. There’s something so beautiful about being fully known and fully loved, and it has to start with you.”

Our bodies know things before our brain does. Honing in on somatic awareness and full body integration is crucial to our fulfillment! With the Enneagram, we can process our traumas and have the language to express our needs. The Enneagram helps us build self compassion and acceptance of imperfection, encouraging patience and giving us the freedom to not blame ourselves. With this, we also gain greater understanding, empathy, and compassion toward other people’s behaviors.

When discussing somatic awareness in terms of the Enneagram, there are four things to consider:

  1. Being an inner observer
  2. Establishing a grounded presence
  3. Felt sense & knowing your body
  4. Resource development (both internal and external)

The Enneagram isn’t another personality test. It actually explains behaviors and how they manifest in our bodies. In this episode, we dive deeper into how the Enneagram informs somatic awareness. Listen until the end for a little bonus about each number and full body integration.

“Neurotic problems are not only reflected in stuck patterns of thinking... it’s also in patterns of emotional holding and chronic physical tension."
