Episode 106 - Lauren Childs
from Lone Sound: The Podcast · host jaimie siegle
We cover a lot of ground in this week's episode with Fort Works Art's Lauren Childs—gallery owner, artist, mom, and constant supporter of the arts. Her gallery quickly became one of my favorite places in Fort Worth when it opened 2016, first for its unique roster of artists but eventually for its continued dedication to bringing international attention to Texas artists. In Episode 106, we talk about some of my favorite artists from previous Fort Works exhibitions (Dan Lam, Marshall Harris, Kate Simon), as well as a few of my favorite things: art activism, Art Basel, the Burning Man experience, and how we can help one another as we navigate these uncertain times. We also explore the collective nature of the Fort Worth arts scene, the state of art in 2020, and how she's remained busy organizing fundraising efforts for the city's creative community through her nonprofit foundation, Gallery of Dreams. (Head's up: the latest grant initiative for musicians is called Sounds of Resilience—details here.) Thanks for listening!
