Episode 107: Friday Night Thunder

It is that special time of the week when we drop a brand new episode of the True North Racing Podcast. We were joined by co-creator and director of Friday Night Thunder, Laura Milliken. We were also joined by two of the assistant directors in Melissa Jim and Neil Annett. We got to learn how Friday Night Thunder as created and what we can expect from season 3. During our first segment with Laura we dived into her beginnings before Friday Night Thunder. Laura would go on to talk about her involvement in many of the productions Laura has been apart of. Laura took the time to open up about her early life, her sobriety and how Friday Night Thunder had brought her close to people that would treat her like family. Then we got on the topic of Friday Night Thunder and what it meant to Laura. We learned about how the show was created and how in 2019 they hit up Ohsweken Speedway to film different drivers and start telling their stories. Jon was then joined by Melissa Jim and Neil Annett, and we got to learn about their roles in the show as Melissa is not only an assistant director but the go pro director as well. Neil is an assistant director and works on the story telling side of the series. Melissa start her journey working with Big Soul Productions and has been apart of the Friday Night Thunder since day 1. We would talk about how the series has evolved over the years and what difficulties they faced when COVID would shut down Ohsweken Speedway for two seasons. Neil is currently working on her second season of Friday Night Thunder while they currently work on Season 4 of the show.
