Episode 109: Killian Lu with Michelle and Ryan Pt 1

from Goblin Lore Podcast · host Hobbes

Hello, Podwalkers, and welcome back to the Goblin Lore Podcast! After last week's discussion at the start of the last episode the hosts had briefly discussed the story of Killian Lu that had been alluded to so far and drew heavily on two very important threads about this (here and here) especially as it leans into harmful stereotypes. After recording last week's episode we reached out to Michelle (welcome back friend!) and Ryan (fist time guest!) to see if they were willing to discuss this further. In pt 1 of our conversation with them we focus on the story of Killian so far, the Myth of the Model Minority, as well as the idea of Tiger Parenting. A lot of what is discussed today also draws heavily from this video by Eugene Yang on Anti-Asian Hate.   We also are proud to have partnered with Grinding Coffee Co a black, LGBT+ affiliated and owned, coffee business that is aimed at providing coffee to gamers. You can read more about their mission here. You can use our partner code for discounted coffee! ____________________________________________ As promised, we plan to keep these Mental Health Links available moving forward too.
