Welcome to the Tweed Trends Podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl. And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Welcome back to Tweed Trends. Hope you're feeling fabulous on the spine Friday of ours. I'm not going to keep you long today because it's Friday and I know you got stuff to do.

So today's episode is all about your brain. Let's get started. Did you know that simply through your thoughts, that you can control how a person behaves? Well, this is actually true.

This is something that's been tested. So this isn't some Gettleboys Minds Plan tricks on me typing. There's a research psychologist by the name of Rob, excuse me, Bob Rosenvall. And what he did was he went in a lab and labeled some rats as smart and some as dumb.

Now, there was no reasoning behind why he put these labels on them because it hadn't been discovered that some of them were brighter than others. But he labeled them that way intentionally because then he took those rats and gave them to different groups and had them do a maze test with their rats. And the people who got the ones that were labeled as smart rats, their rats did better than the people who had the rats that were labeled as dumb. And the reason being, the people that got the smart rats treated them as if they were smart.

And the people who got the dumb ones treated them as if they were dumb. So yeah, this has been tested. So here's what you do. Go out, start treating people how you hope that they would be, how you want them to be, how you want them to act, if you want them to be smart, treat them as if they're smart.

If you want them to be beautiful, treat them as if they're beautiful. And then they'll begin to believe it. Now, let me say this. There's always an exception to a rule.

There's always somebody or something that's not going to fit. But it's worth a try, right? So go out there and see what happens. Treat people, have high expectations for them, and see if they don't step up to the plate.

Another thing about your brain is that there's some research that backs up the idea that you can do three steps to try to hack your brain, break bad habits, and make better decisions. What it all revolves around is your emotional intelligence and where you are with that. Now, in order to get these three steps going, you have to be proactive instead of reactive, meaning the emotional intelligence portion, it's more reactive. Something happens and you react.

And what they're saying is, in order to try to break these habits, you need to be proactive. And think about them ahead of time, prepare yourself, and then move on. So one of the things, I'm going to use myself as an example. One of the things that I struggle with is confrontation.

I do not like any type of confrontation. And I know that there are times that sometimes you've got to confront somebody. So in those times, I know that I need a plan. So the first thing is, I need to be motivated to make a change with the whole idea of being confrontational.

Sometimes it just has to happen. You have to do it. And in that case, I know that there has to be some end goal, some light at the end of the tunnel that I want to reach, my motivation to make me then follow through with the other two steps. The second one is practice.

And what I would do is, if I knew that I had to have a conversation with somebody like my husband's ex-wife, they have a child together. And every now and then, I would have to talk to this woman. And she would piss me off just about every single time I would talk to her. And therefore, I knew that in going into a conversation with her mainly on the telephone, I would have to practice what could possibly happen.

I say this. She might say that. Worst case scenario, if she says this, I need to have a nice polite way to come back instead of cussing her up one side and down the other. Because that gets you nowhere.

That speaking from experience. Get you nowhere. Then, of course, after you practice what's going to happen in the phone call, then you actually apply it. You make that phone call.

And you sit down and you think about it. And think before you say stuff. That was what I always had to tell myself. Think before it said anything.

In most cases, I'd worked out every possible situation. Therefore, when she would come at me with something, I could come right back, kill her with kindness, and just be able to get off the phone smiling, knowing that I said what I needed to get out there. I let her know how I felt about whatever the topic was. And bam, it's done.

So try those three things. See if they work for you. First of all, you have to be motivated to do something. Then you have to practice whatever it is.

And then apply it. Last but not least, a way that you can internally help your brain, your heart, and your digestion is by increasing the amount of polyphenols that you ingest. And you're probably like, well, how do I know what has polyphenols in it? Well, guess what?

I got you. But let me tell you this. So what they recommend, scientific research, recommends 650 milligrams of polyphenols a day. Now, here are 10 foods that are rich in polyphenols.

And I'll tell you how many milligrams of each that you can get. So for cherries, in each of these is per serving. Cherries is 274 milligrams, strawberries, 235, red grapes, anywhere between 100 and 169, artichokes 260, red onions, 168, spinach, 119, hazelnuts, 495, dark chocolate, drum roll, 1,664, coffee, 214, and last but not least, black tea, 102 milligrams. So mix and match because really the dark chocolate was the only thing that exceeded the amount for the daily recommended dosage of the polyphenols.

But like I said, mix and match, create some cool recipes, maybe, that have multiple of these items in it. And then you can knock out the amount of polyphenols, work on that brain, that digestion, and your heart, all at the same time. Thanks for joining me for another episode of Sweet Trends. Do me a favor, though.
