Episode 11 - A Glimpse into the Life of an Eco Pirate | Paul Watson

from SANUSPLANET Podcast · host Magdalena Gschnitzer

Welcome to the SANUSPLANET Podcast! For this episode we have an amazing interview guest again: Captain Paul Watson! Captain Watson was co-founder of Greenpeace in it's early years and created his own marine conservation organization in 1977, called Sea Shepherd. Sea Shepherd was the subject of a reality show named "Whale Wars". This American reality television series followed the Sea Shepherd fleet off the coast of Antarctica, where they attempted to stop the killing of whales by Japanese vessels in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. Today there are thousands of volunteers supporting Sea Shepherd in the protection of whales, dolphins, sharks, turtles and all marine wildlife. Watson's most repeated message is: "If the ocean dies, we die." It is as simple as that. That is the reason, why he fought his whole life to protect the ocean. Today Sea Shepherd is working in cooperation with governments to end illegal fishing and is one of the most effective marine conservation organizations worldwide. Our activist Magdalena Gschnitzer volunteered for years on Sea Shepherd campaigns herself. In this interview you will hear not only many extreme stories of Paul Watson's life, but you will also hear about the reasons, why ocean conservation is one of the most important things to do.
