Ameerah Haq is a former UN Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support, having also served as the Vice-Chair of the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations for the UN. Ameerah Haq also served as the last Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the UN Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste and held various leadership level positions in Afghanistan, Malaysia, Laos and Sudan. In this episode, Ameerah Haq takes us to Sudan in the late 2000s. There, she explains how she navigated the challenges to deliver on UN’s humanitarian mandate and her role following the expulsion of many international non-Governmental organizations providing humanitarian assistance.
