Episode 110: Singing in the Dark: A Story of Trust When We Cannot See with Ginny Owens

from Living Wholehearted Podcast With Jeff and Terra · host Terra & Jeff Mattson - Living Wholehearted

In this episode, the Mattsons talk with singer/songwriter, author, teacher, and advocate, Ginny Owens! If you don’t know, Ginny Owens has spent the past two decades sharing her heart with listeners and readers. As a toddler, Ginny picked out melodies on the piano before she was able to put words together in a sentence. Even as vision left her eyes — due to a degenerative eye condition that left Ginny completely blind by age three — songs began to emerge from her fingertips.   In 2000, she was named the Gospel Music Association’s New Artist of the Year. Ginny has composed for such artists as Michael Card, Michael W. Smith, JJ Heller, and Rachael Lampa. In May, 2021, Ginny released her first EP of modern hymns and praise songs, Sing Hope in the Darkness and then created a solo-authored book, Singing in the Dark: Finding Hope in the Songs of Scripture (David C. Cook, 2021). She also released FAITHFUL: Go and Speak, book and album collaboration with Amy Grant, Ann Voskamp, Trillia Newbell, Ellie Holcomb, and Christy Nockels, just to name a few. Ginny contributed a chapter to the book, and co-wrote multiple songs on the album.   Her unique musical style and inspirational lyrics have transcended genre definition and taken her to diverse venues that include the White House, the Sundance Film Festival, Lilith Fair and the National Day of Prayer in Washington, D.C. Ginny has also been an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Belmont University, served as a worship leader, partnered with non-profits, and authored two books.   You can find her most recent releases anywhere you buy books or listen to music: Singing in the Dark: Finding Hope in the Songs of Scripture, book and EP FAITHFUL: Go and Speak, book and album collaboration Connect with Ginny Owens online at:   Website: www.ginnyowens.com                       Instagram: @GinnyOwensOfficial Facebook: @GinnyOwensMusic Twitter: @GinnyOwens Youtube: @GinnyOwensMusic   To learn more about what we are doing at Living Wholehearted, go to www.livingwholehearted.com, or connect with us at:   Instagram @TerraMattson @Living_Wholehearted #living_wholeheartedpodcast #shrinkingtheintegritygap   Facebook @WeAreLivingWholehearted www.livingwholehearted.com Shrinking the Integrity Gap (book) Shrinking The Integrity Gap e-Course
