En sommermorgen i 1998 bliver politiet tilkaldt, for i resterne af huset ligger det forkullede lig af en 59-årig kvinde. Men hun er ikke blevet dræbt i branden, hun er død af utallige knivstik. Bagefter har morderen sat ild til huset for at slette sine spor.
