My buddy Alex Soderstrom is back on the podcast for his fourth Sports Movie Showcase -- this time his first non-football movie with Hoosiers. The film turns 40 this year, but we thought we'd tackle it with March Madness just around the corner -- though this is my first time watching it.We talk about Gene Hackman's leading role as head coach Norman Dale and Dennis Hopper's Oscar-nominated supporting role (in the same year he was in Blue Velvet, no less), how the basketball scenes are put together and how it's an early example of typical sports-movie and underdog tropes.
