In today's episode of Psych Talk, I chat with Jillian Marmo, LCSW, LCADC, a therapist with a passion for helping those in the LGBTQ+ community and those experiencing addiction. Jill shares her background, populations of interest, and what led her to working in addiction and with the LGBTQ+ community. Jill and I talk about mental health and addiction outcomes in LGBTQ+ individuals and how they differ from cisgender, heterosexual individuals. We discuss common misconceptions and stigmas about LGBTQ+ mental health and addiction and various barriers that LGBTQ+ individuals face when it comes to seeking mental health and addiction care.
