I would expect it to become fairly common by the time the series is over. Adolin will find a way to wake his spren. The enemies Champion is Taravangian. The Recreance came about because of the decision to enslave the Parshmen. Adolin’s and Dalinar’s deception about their crimes will be revealed at roughly the same time.
