Stacy’s disappearance raised suspicions about Peterson's involvement, prompting a deeper investigation into Savio's death. Peterson’s case drew significant media coverage, highlighting issues like domestic violence and the misuse of police authority. In 2016, he was further convicted for attempting to orchestrate a murder-for-hire plot against the prosecutor in his murder trial.
