Janet Martineau is a dedicated community leader. who is a very visible part of the art scene in the Great Lakes Bay region. Here at Art Ladders we consider her an influencer making a lasting impact in Mid-Michigan. A graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in journalism, Janet spent 42 years on the editorial staff of The Saginaw News, where she built a reputation for thoughtful storytelling and community connection. Her commitment to the arts is reflected in decades of volunteer involvement and active leadership. Janet is the co-founder of the Riverside Film Festival as well as secretary of the Saginaw Rotary Club and has contributed on the board level to Creative 360, Friends of Theodore Roethke, Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, and the Saginaw County Hall of Fame. She has provided further support to the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Midland Center for the Arts, Saginaw Children’s Zoo, and Saginaw Choral Society. Her passion of education and community includes mentoring young people through Junior Achievement, helping students write and publish a newspaper, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. As a strong advocate for the arts, Janet works as a freelance social media specialist for the Saginaw Arts and Enrichment Commission and has created and managed socialmedia pages for multiple local organizations. And throughher founding of the Lucille and James B. Martineau Fund within the Saginaw Community Foundation, many grants have been awarded that support the arts, culture, educational and environmental initiatives.
